Unsatisfying output from a 12" FI Q.

id still bring it back to the place and make them fix your tuning.
The tuning is just about right, I just read one of the numbers wrong. I know it's somewhere between 28-32, just not sure exactly where. David is out of town for the next week or so anyways. It's a good box and he knows what he's doing, so I'm sure the tuning is right. He told me it should be between 30 and 31 hz.

One more thing, how long have you had this thing installed?

The low end is going to get drastically better the more you beat on it. So just wang it out real hard for a couple days. You should be pleasantly surprised soon.

Well I got the Amp on the day before christmas, and have had it installed since then.

The sub probably has around 20 hours on it. I have noticed an improvement since I got it (before I made this thread), but it was still lacking.

I think once I play with the SSF is should be good to go. I reversed the phase, and noticed a slight increase in output, so i'll be leaving it like that.

Thanks everyone for all the help!

I'll post back here after a little tweaking of the SSF and let you know how Bass, I love you goes.

Great to hear, try turning up the bass on the HU now. Maybe lower your SSF a bit, lift the HPF. All those should help.
What are your current settings on the amp?
The regular bass, NO... he should not turn up the bass.

His sub-out is all the way up, that's all the matters.

Yes you will get more excursion on lower notes.
Sounds like your SSF is turned to high. Or you have some sort of EQ on the deck thats cutting out the low frequency.
Incorrect. Right around tuning, there will be little excursion, as you differ from tuning (in either direction) you will get more excursion... especially below tuning.

Not familiar with his eq settings on the deck so not sure. But having the bass up a little would boost the lower freqencies like he wants.

Right

I would also recommend (or rerecommend, I dont know if it has been said in this thread already) to keep all EQ settings flat (at least for now), keep the sub output 4-6/6, and to set gains with volume at around 55-59/60.

I do not know if your avic is exactly like the 880prs I own, but as Noah stated earlier, pioneers do not put out impressive line voltage until near max on the volume. This is counter intuitive to what we have experienced with other brands. It took me a day of "Why the hell are my subs not hitting right?" and a little searching to figure this out when I first installed my pioneer deck.

DBFan187 has an oscope and, based on his testing, the pioneers do not clip until after 59 on the dial.

I'll give the full rundown, just to check on everything.

SLA is at +4 (maxed). This was the only way I could achieve enough voltage on my speaker amp.

Gains are set at 52/62 volume.

HPF is set at 80.

Bass is -4. [Only affects the speakers]

Trebel is -4.

Subwoofer out is at +6, Reverse phase, and LPF @ 80 hz.

The parametric EQ is where I think my problem might be.

It's three bands: Low, Mid, and High.

Each band has an adjustment from -6 to +6.

Each band also has a Frequency to choose from: [Low is 40, 60, 80, 120 I believe, or something close to that].

For each frequency, there is a Q Factor: 2 wide, 1 wide, 2 narrow, 1 narrow.

ATM, I have the Low set at

+2, 40 hz, and 2 wide.

Could this be where my problem is at? I'll try taking a picture with my camera phone if anyone needs to see it in clearer detail.

I will also play with the SSF as soon as my mom leaves. My trucks in the garage, and was shaking the house, so she got mad lol.

The sub sounded better with reverse phase on, so I probably threw the wires in wrong.

I was just told to put it on +2... Any one else for an input on the Par-EQ?
