Got the custom wallpaper to work!! It only work for me when the wallpaper files were the only thing on the flash drive.

As you can see it's hard to see the white text if anything on the screen is white or a light color. So try to use pictures with dark color at least where the text is.

I might do a walk through or make some if you guys would like one or two for your car. Just post/PM the picture that you would like as a wallpaper. I don't mind doing a couple.

Crutchfield is reporting that that the iDA-X100 (as well as 200 and 300) has an issue with iPod Nanos where the iPod Nano stays on when the head unit is turned off causing the Nano's power to drain. I haven't found any more specific info on this. Is it a problem with all Nano models?

It's too bad as I was just getting ready to get an iDA-X100 to use with my 1st gen Nano. Guess I'll be waiting until they resolve that issue.

I thought that was just with the new Nanos but I could be wrong.

here is the walk through for custom wall paper.

You need to download irfanView and the converter

here is the converter website if link doesn't work.

http://www.xoned.net/content/xoned/projects/ida-x001-apn-converter

To obtain a working RAW image you can freely use IrfanView with this plugin pack:

http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/plugins/irfanview_plugins_400_setup.exe

step 1) Just open your preferred image in irfanview, then use Image->Resize/Resample to set the image to 320x240 72 dpi.

Finally save your image as a RAW in the location: c:\tools\x100\, choosing RGB Interleaved in the dialog box, without using Flip Image.

step 2)

Converter:

1) extract exe and dll in c:\tools\x100\

2) convert your image in RAW and put it in c:\tools\x100\ ----this is what the 1st step was about.

3) click Start->Run and type "cmd.exe" (without quotes)

4) in the cmd prompt type "cd c:\tools\x001\" (without quotes)

5) now type "xndconverter.exe myfile.raw" (without quotes)

If no error occurs your converted apn file should be ready in c:\tools\x100\.

The only way I could get the alpine deck to see the files is to use a usb memory stick. It would NOT work using the ipod to download the wallpaper. I would test whatever usb memory stick by downloading some alpine wallpaper and putting them on the head unit.

If you run into any problems please PM or if you would like I don't mind doing a couple for you if you can't get it working.

hey guys..im new to the forum and i just joined because of this thread. i bought my x100...its installed...running good so far...im running my 80 gb ipod classic on it...i have the firmware right before 1.1.1 not sure of the number..im at work right now and my ipod is in my car..

i love the deck so far...eq options on it are very limited compared to my old pioneer (deh-mp8600) the display is bright and clear...the ipod connection is a lot faster than i had thought it would be.

i do have one question...does anyone have a remote?? which remote model are you using??

hope this info can help someone out cuz i know this whole thread help me decide on buying this unit and i am very happy with it..

Welcome!!

I been using the Alpine RUE-4202 remote and it works great with the unit. I also have the PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel remote working. Both work really well but I use the PAC SWI-JACK mostly. So I haven't played around with Alpine RUE-4202 too much....

I try it with a new ipod nano 4gb and it work fine. The blacklight turns off after the HU turns off and then a mins or so later the ipod goes into sleep mode.
I will check with the old nano hopefully next weekend....

whats this whole thing with the 2v outs? Isnt 5v the standard? What sort of quality different would one notice with an after market setup (comps + amp) vs higher volts? Sorry for the newb question

Thanks
