we dont care about you or your thoughts. kthnx j.k

I am thinking about buying one of these once I have the money..

But I got a question.. I m wondering if you guys think that the music and everything sounds good and clear? or it is kind of crappy unless we buy an imprint so it ll sound better? Or the sound is fine, just that the imprint will just expand the EQ?

Maybe I just confused myself so, I want to clarify before I go out looking for one of those..

Thanks in advance

edit: also any one of you had problems with the preouts being only 2 volts? I dont think it would bother me that much?

i thought the same exact thing...but..honestly...if you do listen to your ipod 99.9%..leaves what..i guess...whenever a friend gets in the car and says " hey i got this new cd lets listen to it" is the other 0.01%

i like the unit...and i havent noticed a differecne between 6.5v and 2v..from the switch i made with my last head unit...but..overall im very happy with my purchase so far...

I cant even remember the last time I used a cd. My house in networked into a Pioneer Elite receiver, so even my music in the house is either off of internet radio or off of the HD on my computer.

I either listen to the ipod in the car, or AM sports talk radio.... NO CDs used for me. So although it seems weird, I think it is just because we are so used to CDs. I am not sure CDs will even be around in the near future. The success of the ipod has pretty much shown many people could care less about the CD. Even though the die hards will still want them, the big companies will not care.

Throw caution to the wind, get the unit and forget the Cds. they take up too much space anyway.

whats this whole thing with the 2v outs? Isnt 5v the standard? What sort of quality different would one notice with an after market setup (comps + amp) vs higher volts? Sorry for the newb question
Thanks
I think 4v is more of a standard but really it shouldn't matter if you set your gains correctly. Also if you get the imprint add its boost the outputs to 4v.

I have an alpine 6disc players but I don't even have it hooked up. I have over 11,000 songs on my ipod so there is always something to listen to.

I think it sounds great as is. Since the imprint add on is not release it hard to say how big of a improvement it will be. Hopefully I will get this sometime this month when its released.

Imprint is really for people into more advance EQ tuning. If you want to go active I believe imprint add on would be the only way.

I ordered the X100 online last week, should take delivery on Friday.

I'm installing into a 2006 Xterra. I have Boston Acoustics Pro6.5 3-way components up front, Nakamichi 2-way 6.5"s in the rear doors and a Soundstream PIC4.480 amp powering all of that up.

I'm replacing the 9835. I didn't see much diff in the X001 and X100 until you add the Imprint gear. I haven't experimented at all with Audyssey although a couple of friends do have it with their Denon home theatre receivers.

I don't have an iPod but instead will be using a couple of memory sticks and a 120GB 2.5" SATA laptop drive in an enclosure to provide source to this deck.

I'll take a couple of shots and post my reaction when install is complete. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

i'm lookin for a new hu and like the idea of ditching the cds. couple questions for you guys that have it installed:

has anybody installed the PXA-H100 yet?

does it support video or would it be possible to have ipod video using the KCE-415i. i've been trying to figure out a way to run an ipod for video with the alpine touchscreen monitor as well as audio (whether i buy the 9886 or the ida-X100).

Can't wait for the PXA-H100 to come out. It'd be nice to have a 'flat' setting. As it is, the bass and treble are "centered" around a certain frequency, without the option of turning it off. Pretty disappointing, considering that the HPF can be turned off, so I'm not sure why they couldn't think of that for those other two settings.

Another minor nitpick: why does Alpine have to show their alpine logo as album art if there is none? Would be nice for the text to take up more space if none is found, similar to using the full speed cable with older ipods.

I'm surprised how many people here had the same upgrade path from the 9835. The screen is really impressive. I don't think there any other HU that even comes close to matching it. BioLite was nice, but this is ridiculously awesome.

I'm using it with my 2nd gen nano, and haven't had any problems so far. On the 9835 with the KCA-420i, it would sometimes leave the ipod playing after the car was turned off. In over a week of having it installed, this has yet to happen with the IDA-X100.

Others mentioned the whole 2v vs 4v+, and I must say, that I didn't notice any difference going from 4v down to 2v. It's also nice having more fine adjustments in volume and subwoofer level than before.

Overall, I love it. It's incredibly fast for searching the iPod and very intuitive. Even better, I think the dealer I bought it from messed up... because I picked it up for $280 out the door. I think they based it off the price of the X001 or something.

edit: oh yeah, why is it that we, in the US, get screwed on features? The european version get RDS for the radio and a few other things. Not that I listen to the radio much, but... RDS would have been nice.

Welcome to the forum edy!

That would be nice but since buying this deck I have almost 70% of my 11000+ songs have the correct album art. It took some time but it was worth it.

That is good to know since I plan to buy a old used ipod nano just to leave in the car.

Yeah I am also loving the deck and great price you got it almost $50 cheaper than the price I got at crutchfield but I did also got the remote for free.

Ididn't notice that but that does sucks. I haven't even listened to the radio one time but maybe if you listen to a lot of radio you can always pick up the HD radio add on. It has that nice ipod tagging feature that is pretty nice.

I received my X100 on Friday afternoon. It was seriously the easiest upgrade I've done yet, as someone else previously stated the 9835 harness plugged right in to the x100.

Overall impressions are the deck is extremely easy to work with, and out of the box sounds very nice. The USB interface is very fast once the songs are initially accessed.

Sirius display is better than the 9835 only because of more lines of info displayed at a time.

Comparing Biolite and the x100 display, the colour is much more legible than the b&w, plus the giant clock display got a few laughs out of some of my friends.

I asked a local retailer about the PXA-h100 and they did state that it would be available retail by month end, for around $190CDN. I'm really looking forward to plugging this in!

Has anyone tried the x100 with the bluetooth module yet? If yes, what is your impression?

Mike...
