Understanding Line Out Converter? RE-Q?

Looking to buy a new car, a Genesis Coupe, and anyways it has a nice nav unit with all the extra, and a 10speaker Infinity system. I was hoping to add some aftermarket subs/amp and read I would need a LOC to do this. Looking at a few vendors, there are so many to choose from Im a little lost. Also not sure what it means when it says like 80watts max, since the amp would have much more power. Obviously Im missing something in my logic

Also unsure how the rest of my speakers would play out. IE If I upgrade just the bass portion, and remove the stock sub, would turning down the bass on my stock headunit reduce the bass on the cabin speakers only, or the bass of the sub as well?

Also, if I really wanted to stick with the stock nav, could I use the LOC to also do front speakers/amp in addition to the subwoofer, or is it now just going to be crappy?

Lastly, I was told to look at MTX RE-Q, any thoughts on this product?

Thanks guys

you either need a LOC or a head unit with high level inputs - assuming you tap the factory sub wires. There are LOC products and there are OEM interfaces, and there are OEM Processors. The RE-Q is the latter, along with products from JL Audio, Alpine, Audison, Kenwood, Audio Control, etc.

When you adjust the bass level on the factory head unit, all bass is affected - speakers and sub. Having a sub amp with a remote level control would help. JL has a sub level control for their cleansweep (or stand alone).

you can keep only the stock NAV head unit, and replace everything else with aftermarket speakers/amp/sub with a nice OEM Processor. They are designed to replace your OEM volume control and undo factory equalization curves (some of them do that).

Factory sound systems are generally poor, even the "premium" ones. They all use small amplifiers and efficient, cheap speakers. Sound deadening is also key at speaker installations.

Some OEM interfaces are made by Pacific Accessory Corporation (pac-audio.com), Peripheral Electronics, and USA Spec - they'll even let you add options to your factory radio, besides selling LOC's that mate with factory harnesses.

if you want to do this, I highly recommend using either an Audiocontrol LC6i into an EQ or an Audiocontrol DQL-8. as you car has 10 speakers, each one is crossed at a different point and you'll need a unit that has a summing capability to get a full signal output. if on the other hand you just plan on doing a sub stage than you can use just a plain jane LOC.

My worry is that Id want to have the flexibility to essentially introduce a crossover on the stock cabin speakers. So I could lower the bass from the stockers and not take it from the aftermarket sub. Seems possible but more high end equipment is needed.
This is where I was looking and got confused: Line-Out Converters | Line Output Converters at Sonic Electronix
Audiocontrol DQL-8 or Audiocontrol LC6i (might need LC8 if your car is 3 way up front) --main input-->Audiocontrol DQX

problem solved
