Uh Oh! Blew A Fuse!

So to finish off my sub/amp/head unit installation, go to turn it on, hear a pop (fuse) and then nothing. No power to anything. I'm wondering what could have caused this.

I used leftover 4 gauge speaker power wire to extend the wiring from the car's fuse panels to the battery, and even though it's not copper-plated, I assume it would work fine, since it's meant to carry power. It's a '94 Integra RS. Any suggestions?

Exactly what fuse blew? That doesnt sound like you are running a fused wire from the battery to the sub amp. If it was just a fuse for your headunit, check your connections....electrical tape over male/fem connectors and solder connections...then add more tape!

Not sure which fuse, haven't had time to really look, but I assume ignition, since the car does zilch when the key is turned. No lights, nothing. There are two amps, each has a separate in-line fuse, both of which are fine.

This worries me. How did you exactly wire it? The 4awg run from the battery to the amp shouldn't touch the vehicle's fuse panel at all - it should completely bypass it.

There's 4 gauge running from the sub amp to the battery, I think 10 gauge running from the speaker amp to the battery, both have in-line fuses. The battery had to be replaced with a yellow top, or at least was better off, and would not fit in the regular battery spot, so was moved forward. For the power wires from the fuse panel to reach the moved battery, I used a metal clamping piece to connect the two power wires from the fuse boxes to a spare strand of 4 gauge, which connects to the battery.

a little off topic but where is your speaker amp located and grounded? I put mine under the passenger seat and grounded it there but I kept getting a ground loop.

In the trunk. Before the install the speaker and amp were there and everything was fine, just put in a head unit, amp, and subs. I'm gonna do some wiring tracing and see if I can find any grounding, but my main question was just if the 4awg wire is alright to connect the fuse panel power wires to the battery.
