type x vs. FI q

I need a sq oriented sub that can handle 1000rms. The only downside to the type x is that it only comes in dual 4 which means it would be getting 800 watts instead of a possible 1200. I saw in a CA&E magazine that the type x came in #2 right behind the critical mass for top rated sq subwoofers. What do you think would be better.....or is there any other subs in this price range around $250

@ thread starter-i remember typex as being a bit slow on response but thats me..depends on what u want from the sub?

both are pretty equal price wise.

both are quality made.

both will most likely satisfy you..

considering you amp circumstances id say go with the Q and run at 1 ohm for more power. just my opinion though.

I've had a few opportunities to actually see this tested, including on my own W3's and their was no change in tonality or transient response/"quickness" of the sub except for increased output when it was wired to a 1 ohm load.

No one in the world can hear the difference between .05 and .10% THD.

To the OP, I haven't had my Q in a sealed box yet to compare it to an X, but fwiw it sounds great in the ported box.

You can tell if your using a dvc coil sub and only use 1 coil, you change the total q of the system by altering the qes. As far as a dedicated d2 sub vs d4 with similar specs, ahh not so much...

nah i dont like alpine but FI is farkin nice gear ive just played my BLZ on a freinds amp

holy fark i though my eyes would pop from the vibration of the air my teeth were chattereing and the sq of it was bloody good so if you go the Q which is SQ orentated youll love it and not regret it
