i have a 12 type x with 1000 watts on it if i get another amp and another sub will my system be twice is loud? if it is then why doesn't the dbs double on the meter?

No, it will not be twice as loud and your spl will not double.

if u lookin to get loud, type x wouldnt be the subs i would go for, i'd lookin into the type Rs. u will be much happier wit them

Yeah the Type Xs are nice...but they sure as hell arent SLP monsters. My friend has one and Ive put it in numerous boxes and I still cant get it as lound as I would like it to be.

if that was the case we'd be a bunch of deaf mofo's around here. it takes DOUBLE the power you're giving just to gain 3db!!!!!

Depends on what you want. I'm willing to bet you can squeeze a bit more out of the x you already have.

I have two 12's in 2.0cf each, tuned to 30hz, with a bxi2006d, and i'm not even pulling 1/2 the power out of the amp (i've only got an 80amp fuse on it) and it's definitely on par with the single solo l7 15" i used to have.

Depends on your definition of loud.... When i got my system hooked up, i threw in that bass track 'bass i love you' and i couldn't stop giggling, it was pathetic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And i remember reading 2x the power + 2x the subs = a 6db increase, but that can't always be true, decibels increase exponentially.

100db to 106db > 106db to 112db

10db is 100 times louder than 1db.

20db is 1000 times louder than 1 db.

It boggles the mind.

an SPL score is Very Very Install dependent....you just cant get a bunch of woofers and a shitload of power and throw it at them.

all things being equal, it take double the power to gain 3db.

Halving power results in a 3db decrease. 1/2 output. Although it's 'perceived' as only marginally quieter.

So 3db increase is 2x output, but not necessary perceived as such. Yay for physics!
