Type x Crossover question

quote

"In passive systems it is possible to employ simple tricks, such as wiring a properly specified low-voltage light bulb in series with the tweeter (the most vulnerable driver) so that excessive signal heats up the bulb filament, thus causing its electrical resistance to increase, and consequently reducing the amount of signal fed to the tweeter."

I did a 8hr drive & when I took a look at my Type X xover it was melted on the bulb side..

Keep an eye on it if you pound it for a long time..

I will get pix later 2day

Thats glowin pretty bright there skippy. I havent goten it that bright yet. I turned my highs down a bit without missing them, and I get a real low glow at high volumes. Thats insane that it melted the case, its kind of a wast tho.

Would it be a bad Idea to take the light out? It can be done easy enough. Would I really lose that much protection? Would it sound better, would it even work without the light? LMK

-Vance

dude, mine doesn't even come close to that, it gets just enough to fill with light, not even producting any real heat. I was wondering if I would gain by lossing the bulb.

that happin on a long drive i had the system on for like 8hrs..

I put a track in to work the highs for the pic to get it real bright

It was hard to do.. I only have 50w on them & the gain is all the way down

now that i know the limit I dont push it..

It was only like that for a sec or so

The Track was #8 off the Kill Bill Vol2 Sound Track

the Amp is a 1996 Zapco Z200C2-SL W/Syblink (50x2)

Hu Eclipse CD8053

On an 8hr solo drive you need somthing to keep you up..

Peace T
