dude, mine doesn't even come close to that, it gets just enough to fill with light, not even producting any real heat. I was wondering if I would gain by lossing the bulb.

Do you constantly blow fuses? Probably not. But that one time you do need them, you're sure going to be glad that they're there.

You won't "gain" anything by removing the tweeter protection. But you'll surely increase your potential for damaging them.

Don't mean to bring this back from the dead, but since I just installed my type x's and hear that melting the cover is a fairly common issue, I wanted to take some precautions. I don't really like loud music anyways so it's not a big deal, but does anyone think gluing some aluminum foil to the back of the cover right next to the buld would deflect away enough radiant heat? Is there a possibility it may do more harm than good?

I don't really get that bulb glowing, but I'm sure it's bound to go off when listening to music that is already clipped when recorded.

Maybe drill some holes around the edge to vent excess heat. That's all I can think of to help prevent melting the xover case.
