Type X' components

I hope your friend is a dealer and those are new. That's pretty much what you'd pay in a shop. Make sure they're SPX-177 with the ring-dome radiator. The original type-X came with a standard silk, which wasn't as good. You can tell by the crossovers. The old ones had huge acrylic crossovers. The new ones are metal-like with a window.

They're great speakers, though.

I had a dealer down here offer those to me for a bit over $300. They typically sell for about $230-$250 from the various gray-market internet dealers. Unless his friend offers warranty, I don't see why wouldn't just get them from Ikesound or something. I also had a dealer offer me a/d/s 3s for $350 authorized, which was a steal that I stupidly took a pass on. I dunno, maybe I'm just lucky.

You should check into the JL XR 650CSi's. I just got em installed in my car and it blows my friends Type X setup away. Hes kinda pisst off about it. Both have good midbass but the tweets on the XR's sound more detailed. Again, this is all based on opinion and what kind of music you might like. The JL Xr's are the same price as the type X.

Weeell technically they do make a 3 way component just not in the type x lineup.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

f1 doesn't count. but i figured someone would say that

Ive heard 2 sets of xr's going at the same time and wasnt impressed at all, I think my type r comps are better then his xr 5 1/4 comps...
There are way too many factors involved in deciding what sounds better. Install, what kind of car its in, sound dampening, on axis/off axis, amplifier, wireing, head unit, music type, and last but not least...opinion.
