Type S vs. Type R

What do you guys think?

I made a previous thread about my type R 12'' not sounding so great in a 1cu sealed box, the amp is an MRP-M500 and the type R model is the 1222D so it's only pushing 300RMS at the moment.

I was wondering if a dual 2 ohm Type S 12'' would sound better in my current box/amp setup?

dont forget to port the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Although I agree the Type R gets tons louder in a ported box

It still does pretty well in a sealed enclosure.

Maybe you should try a larger/smaller box, OP?

And 300w RMS is barely enough to move that woofer in a sealed box.

Yeah i'm trying to figure out how and where to get a proper box for my type R but I just want something that sounds halfway decent for cheap in the meantime ya know what i mean? something i can just throw in my current box

I have a 1242D sitting brand new in the box i'm just afraid to hook it up with my 1cu box because even at 300RMS my 1222D looks like it's going to blow at times... And i was thinking the reason was because my box was too small? Idk, i'm pretty new to the car audio thing i'm really wanting to gain more knowledge though.

Id build a ported box to specs at least. It will be a lil more efficient in there than a sealed box....
I would LOVE a proper ported box for my sub I just don't know how to build one correctly, I built this sealed box but obviously sealed boxes are much simpler...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

just pay someone to give u a decent design or get one off this website. its just as easy to build a ported one.

Just get a design and cut it and put it together. It is really simple...I would never even consider comparing a Type R and a Type S, EVER.
