type r's able to recone?

just got a free pair of dual 4 type r's. They still work 100%, but the last guy that had them, the surround was comming apart from the cone, and used ALOT of silicone to repair them. Anybody that can recone them besides alpine? are they worth reconing? or better of throwin them in the scrap heap? looking for suggestions....thanks, Ed

ummm.....i KNOW for a fact i saw a type-r reconed with, i think, an Fi cone, and dust cap......may not of been Fi, but i KNOW i saw a reconed, with aftermarket parts, for sale on here....

ofcourse it can be done, but you'd spend twice as much getting the parts as it would cost you to buy a new 1
