naut1ca - I'm really digging that signature, dude! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif Considering Kenwood's amps aren't designated as 'slash-series' units and they do NOT make an amp that I am aware of that will do 1600 watts. Period. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

As I am a bit of Kenwood loyalist and have been for many years I am fairly familiar with their products. I knew the three most recent eXcelon monoblocks claimed 1600 watts peak output (KAC-X810D, KAC-X811D, and whatever the model # of the 25th Anniversary version is....)
Most any car audio enthusiast that's been enjoying the hobby for longer than 30 minutes knows that peak output ratings are nothing more useful than a marketing strategy and will not be indicative of anything approaching real-world output.

It just looked strange to me when I saaw that sig for the first time......outside of that if he's happy with his setup then what I think about the manner in which he crows about it matters very little //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeh, I kind'of realized that--which is why I have 1amp/per sub and the reason i have the amps anyway is just cuz 'to me' they look cool.

type-R's are 1500 watt 'PEAK' I also mentioned that in my sig, 1600watt peak on my amps which really they arn't but like what roughly 6-700? an the rms on the subs are what 4-500? which is why i have alot. and when the time comes that i desire to replace these with type x's i will do so, and replace the amps along with em and throw the stuff i currently have literally, in the trash.

It depends on how they are set up. If you are using one of the amps we're assuming that the 1600 watts is referring to (KAC-X810D, 811D, or the 25th Anny XXV-03A) they are rated to do 533w @ 4 ohms, 919w @ 2 Ohms, or 1000w @ 1 ohm. I've not ever benched one or fooled with one in person so I cannot say for sure how accurate these ratings are but they are CEA-2006 compliant so I would assume the ratings are pretty accurate. Not much ouput difference between a 2 and 1 ohm configuration so I'm guessing that the amps were built to withstand a 1 ohm load purely for wiring flexibility more than anything else.

I'm not bagging on your choice of equipment....just the way you had your signature composed struck me as a bit odd. If and when you get ready to "throw the stuff I currently have literally, in the trash" YOU LET ME KNOW! lol! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'll happily come dig in ya trash bin before it gets picked up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
