Type R -vs CompVR

I know, I only paid 40 bucks for it bnib from cardomain (the CVR). Im just experimenting, If that doesnt work im going to change to 4 cubes at 35 Hz
experimenting never hurts. well, actually i take that back. the other day when i was curious with my girl, nevermind.

Okay, back to topic..

I've had the misfortune of blindly clicking every "Type R vs Brand X" sub on this forum, including this one. Here are my findings on the Type R vs CVR:

Do you have more than 600 watts RMS per sub?

Will you be using a very large, mid tuning(35hz-ish) ported box?

Only if you can answer yes to both questions does the Type R seem to work at it's best. Otherwise, the CVR is a more practical way to go.

The CVRS are suprisingly good sounding and you should definitely listen to one first.

The Type R is definitely a better woofer than the CVR overall, but look at the extra amount you are shelling out. If money isn't a big problem, go with the Type Rs.

ive played with both quite a bit..

i would agree that the Rs outshine the vrs if you have enough power. Rs are definately a lot punchier, definately hit the lower notes...

but so do the VRs. i actually think the VRs have a little smoother sound and although the SQ of the Rs is good, i might take the vrs for certain types of music. (contrary to pop. oninion)

at about 5-600 rms, the VRs seem pretty maxed for daily driving, whereas the Rs are just gettin started

to the poster who's messin with the VR 15 he got for cheap, try a sealed enclosure, they do really well sealed and it still has great LFE.. i think mine was 3.5 cubes net.

so to sum it up.. Rs are louder if you have the power, if not Id prolly go with VRs.

oh and to chevyaudio, itll prolly surprise you with its spl for just a well priced woof

get off alpines d*ck b itch

I could have sworn you had the old type r's. So if you are basing it on that, then you dont know what you are talking about.

Get the R's. Better built, better quailty, overall better woofer. But I wouldnt mind the cvr to play around with. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
