Type R cant hit 80hz?

bro you front speaker should not be moving good with 30hz tones....i wish you would of said that earlier...would of save some time haha

i say pick up a new set of components OR amp the current ones so at least you have a filter to mess with. or buy those bass blocker things or whatever the hell they are and use those. you need two seperate filters to solve this problem...like i said and now a few others have said as well you need to set all settings to nuetral and start from there.

just for my own reference, the problem is that the HU doesn't have a crossover?
yes and no (no since its not the ONLY solution to the problem) . the problem comes in the fact that he doesnt have anyway to filter the frequencies going to his frontstage. so to fix the distortion he is getting (which is stemming from the speakers tryin to play to the frequecies they are not meant to produce at high volumes) he is turning the bass down at the head unit. now when i say bass i mean, that section of frequencies not like a mid level alpine or eclipe where you actually adjust subwoofer level, but bass as in everything that plays those fequencies will be affected. now with his "bass" level all the way down he is affecting his subwoofer output as well....sooo long story short, if he has a way to filter his frontstage with either an amps xover, headunit xovers, or those bass blocker things (never used them so im just guessing at the name) then he can actually set his gain using a nuetral playing field to start with (ie everything set to 0)

what the **** was i thinking with that whole explaination...was it really needed? haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

Well here is what is going on right now.

Im looking to get a new HU with an independent sub out. But I recently got fired from work soo thats not happening as soon as I would like.

I turned my bass to 0 and its better now, its just going crazy on my door speakers. I looked at the manual and it says that my door speakers should be producing only frequencies through 50hz to 15khz. But when I play those test tones around 35hz to try and set my stuff with a DMM it sounds like garbage. So I just set them to when I was listening to music since I have a clip light on my amp, and I know its cose enough to being accurate.

Im just hoping that with a new HU with an independent sub out instead of using one of the front and rear outs that I will get louder, cleaner bass. Is this true?

no, all a sub out is, a set of rca's with an adjustable lowpass built into the headunit, get an amp with a highpass filter for the door speakers

You shouldn't have your speakers connected while setting your gains. You are lucky you haven't fried them. What you need more than anything is an amp for your front speakers that has a HP filter on it.

Woah that reminds me that I have a 200w mtx 2 channel amp with a HP on it and I can just run my speakers with that using the front pre out and then just use the rear pre out for the sub only, and that will pretty much fix my whole problem. Thanks

Now im kind of **** excited to get home and throw that amp in my trunk and then run all my door speaker wires through my panels.

One more question, would it be better to run new RCA wires through my door panel that are using the other pre out. Or just use my other ones that are already ran and just using the output preout on my amp and adjust all the gains, I hope you can understand that. And I dont want to put the amp under my seat cause I already have 4 gauge ran and a 4 gauge to (2) 8 gauges in my trunk.

what you decide to do is up to you. i could really make sense of wht you said inthat last paragraph so ill say this. run 2 rca's (whether you want new ones or you wanna use the old ones) to the back. run a power wire with a splitter or two seperate power wires to the back. ground the amps. set each filter correctly on the amp for its desired speaker. reset gains using at least a -3db test tone for both speakers and subs. and im sure youll be satisfied with the new output. later
