well well the type rs live up to the hype i just putt them in a sealed enclosure (that i had two rockford fosgate p3s in for a year) and it vibrated the sides loose i guess cause both side of the box leaks.. anyways i ne ed a box quick so i have to go prefab( im driving cross country in 9 days) =) so i need to know what specs for the type r i was thinking .65cu ft or should i get bigger. And how much airspace does the back of a type r take up? the subs are 10s

no no no...i have my 12" in 1.25ft^3 and they sound **** good so I'd wager a bet for 1ft^3...oversized sealed boxes are known for hitting the lows alittle better. You can find how much volume the driver displaces on alpines website.

Manufacture specs are what they recommend, not necesarrily whats going to get the best results...

If you go sealed, I'd still vote somewhere in the nieghborhood of 1ft^3 per sub and 1.5ft^3 per sub if you go ported...

well, ur original post said alpine rec. .65 per..x2 subs and 1.3 is right on the money with alpine's specs. Its not too big. For size reference, I've running 2 12" type-r's in 2.5ft^3, but its chamebered so each sub only 'sees' 1.25ft^3. Go alittle over alpine's rec. size...say 1.75ft^3 total maybe even 2ft^3 and you'll proably get a better low end extension.

I didnt mention the chambered part i guess so 1.3 is the equevalant to .65 per chamber correct

yup, 1.3ft^3 per 10 is wayyyy to big. but them in .75ft^3 per sub, simply because i bet you can find a prefab around there since thats the course you wanna take, and you should be good.
