Well, this is what I'll do....

I'll build it like planned with the 3" port and if it sounds like a$$ I'll just seal the box up..... I just can't run that much porting in a box that fits my trunk nicely

If you don't like the look of an external aero you could just build a box around it, completely separated from the sub box.

People dont usually use a 2.5cuft box for a ported 15 either. If thats really as big as the box can be then id sell the 15 and get a 12 and port it.

hey in your pm you asked about using alpines rec 3in x 8.5in port

lol there rec port is for thre rec box and tuning freq

the smaller the box the longer the port to tune the box to the same freq

so you will endup with unreal long ports but thats common place with some subs

my port i wnated to go for was 3in x 10in x 32in long, lol but if i wnated that size port and 30hz tuned thats a must i got away with 2.5in x 10 at 26in and no port noise at all

so you will have to use some 90deg elbows with your 3in port tho id use 4in min for the 15in if over 400w is used

A single 3 inch port will be horrible for output. You need way more port area.

So a single 12 ported would sound better/louder than a sealed 3.0ft^3 15? I'm looking at $200-$250 for a single sub..... I'm just trying to get LOOOUUUUDDD with $250 and at most 3ft^3..... That 3ft^3 needs to include sub and port displacement!!!!!!

What amp do you have?

BD500 right now, but not against getting a bigger amp.... like a ZX1000 or a Bxi whatever.... I've had a W7 12 in a sealed enclosure and that got LOUD.... I just don't have the money for that.

Please keep recommendations to the $200-$250 range.... Seems like I always get the XXX recommendations... yeah it's an awesome sub, but WAYYY out of price range

I have been looking and I MIGHT be able to swing an RE SXX for 275 or even an FI BL for 264.... How would those do?

The RE one recommends 2.0ft^3 tuned to 33hz.... is that right? I could do that!!!

OR an FI Q 12..... that's only 244 and recommends 1.8-2.5ft^3 tuned from 28-33hz....

Very bad idea. I used the Alpine spec and used a 3" port on my 10" type R and it was noisy as fauk. I wound up cutting it out and switching it to a 4". Your going to need even more than that for a 15 or its going to be very noisy and very annoying.
