two subs, divider?

you do it and one sub goes out you can still use the other..
Unless you're wanging really hard, that other sub isn't going to tear itself apart by being in a 2ft^3 box instead of 1ft^3...and the bad sub would act like a passive radiator anyways. Of course, I don't really run my equipment to the point of having to worry about it blowing for any reason, so I never use separate chambers for anything.

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...
