they don't look distorted and blurry on my samsung. of course the hd channels look better.
i have the samsung PN42A450 or something like that its a 42 inch samsung plasma and when i did not have hd and was watching a basketball game or just any channel it looked pretty bad.

I believe it is because it comes in 480 and so the tv has to put it in 720 therefore distorting it? can someone clarify on this.

hell i forgot my model number, but i have a lcd, don't know if it makes a difference, it is alittle grainy, but in my case i can't get alot of hd channels so i have to live with it and i do as it is not bad at all for me.

are there any windows that would provide glare?
I do have a window that when the window is open the blinds will be open. I usually don't watch much tv when the sun is shining in my window though. I tend to like it dark when I watch.

This will be for my bedroom which isn't that large, around 12x14.

Will be used strictly for tv/video games/movies. No computer monitor or anything like that.

i hate to say it just because i feel plasmas are so much better than lcds but if u just want a basic tv in ure bedroom then just head to the store and see which one has the special

I run two LCD's right now, but with the newer Plasmas as burn-in isn't that big of deal anymore and the better blacks(Although my Sony LCD will rival any Plasma IMO) I may end up getting a Plasma as it is better to watch sports on. Buddy just got a Panasonic plasma and looks fantastic on sports. Other stuff like movies it is is just ok, but I watch a shit ton of sports. Plus it will be in my bedroom and then I can stop listening to my wife yelling at me for watching football on the expensive tv in the living room.

Then I can make the step kids love me for a change in giving them the el cheapo LCD, lol!

Most flat panels look bad on standard def. Plasma's tend to look a little better.

If you game, are going to use it for your PC, or have a lot of light in the room = LCD

If you primary watch movies and have a rather dark environment = Plasma

The LCD's use to last longer, but that was in the past. Expect about 60,000 to 80,000 hours of life for both technologies.

Also, just FYI = Samsung and Sony use the same screen manufacturer, so you may want to consider that when price comparing.

I personally have a 42" Samsung LCD.

See, I do have a lot of light in the room sometimes, especially during the day if I'm not working.

Only a dark environment mainly at night or if I have the windows closed (a/c is on or winter time).

I occasionally game, but not necessarily often enough to warrant a certain style tv.

I'm kind of on the border between the two. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Perhaps I just need to go to best buy and just start checking out different brands/styles.

X2. Me too.

I have my 32" Vizio LCD in my room, with no windows, and no lights on, and it looks great. Does tend to get a little too bright, and looks like I turned the light switch on. I'd rather have my 19" LCD Computer screen in my room though, 'cause I don't like such large TVs in a smaller room.
