I'm a normal tv watcher. Don't need anything fancy. It will be in my bedroom and will be used for watching tv and the occasional movie/video game.
If it makes any difference I usually have the lights off in my room when I'm watching tv.
are there any windows that would provide glare?

If it is a phosphor-based display, burn-in is possible. Pixel orbiters and screen-wash will minimize the instances in which it can occur, but it still can (and has).

i have a 50" plasma that i use for my htpc monitor and a 37" lcd in my bedroom both phillips, and look identical and the picture on the plasma is much better, more natural dark and light pictures compared to the lcd, which tend to be brighter around the corners on a dark picture. and when i had the lcd in the living room it picked up much more glare and had a much narrower viewing angle. after having the exact same tvs, except ones plasma and ones lcd i only plan on buying plasmas. Never had any burn in issues, played gta4 for at least 8hrs straight the 1st day i had it

LCD, I have owned both. LCD is a little brighter and doesnt need to be recharged after 3-4 years. On a 50 inch Samsung the recharge was like 300 bucks
How do you recharge one, if I may ask?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You take your TV to the Plasma donation place, and they do it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Depends on the application, in larger family room settings the plasma wins hands down, the heat isnt a factor because of the large room Also it offers better viewing angles, ie the person in the corner of the room can actually see the picture.

also smaller tvs ( sub 40" are better as a lcd screen maily because of cost )

Plasmas no longer have burn in, they look great and have darker blacks than LCD's. LCD's have less "ghosting" if you game but if you dont game ( and when I say game I mean PC game, i notice no ghosting on our 60" Panasonic Plasma playing ps3 and 360 )

In smaller rooms like bed rooms LCD's win hands down, run cooler, use less electricity and from the dead straight on viewing angle the look as good as any plasma.

I too used to be a Plasma hater until i researched it and found that the original problems with them are now gone.

also a big thing is if u get an hdtv 720/1080p u have to basically have to get hd channels. B/c non-hd channels just look distorted and blurry.

Thats what most people do. Hate. Think you gotta fill it up with gas later in life.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I like LCD's cause they are in the sizes I want. And for bedroom use only.
