trunk cars

would sealing off the trunk behind the rear fold-down seats make a difference? then i could put up the back wall of the box ;and just use the trunk as the enclosure (~4 cubes sealed after displacement).
u have a very small trunk, lol. But If u can fold down ur rear seats the best option would be to build a ported box, with the port and the subs firing in to the cabin from where the seat folds down. I seen people do this alot, and they get plenty loud. That way all the air moving from the subs and the port(s) will be in the cabin = better SPL. If u have a sealed box it's generally not gonna get as loud anyways.

I know it changes alot, I have kids so I need the seats. I guess they were taken out he just said they were let down.
yeah, if ur trunk car has a fold down rear seat u have alot more possibilities of accomplishing 145+. I thought he ment he had no openings besides the stock rear dash speakers, like my car.

Getting 150 out of a trunk is no easy feat. Most people I've talked to say port foward, subs foward with the trunk sealed off. Porting through the rear deck may or may not work because it would be kind of hard to fit the ports through the stock 6x9 (or whatever) holes.

If you want a DD/comp setup, you can use aeroports. Make them external and it will be easy to change your ports. Or you could plug one which would lower your tuning. For example, 4 4" aeros tuned 50hz, plug one and it'll bring your tuning down 7-10hz (depending on box size). That's still high tuning, but low enough for me, so it depends on your preference.

i lost db's sealing it off rather than pushed all the way back and having everything facing forward //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif but itll depend on your car and application.

What worked best for me was sub and port firing to the back seats, kills some rattle and a bit of trunk flex, back window falling out though.

I have met an older guy that use to do some comps back in the day (nspl I guess) and he showed some boxes that he claimed did mid 50's in a caprice with the back seats taken out. Dont know if its true but hey he ran 36 Dr crank. 15's so mabey it did, back then

Damm...I'd love to see 36 15's in a trunk of a car....That had to be a creative box...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Heck even if it used a sealed trunk as a box...that still had to be impressive...

i have 2 mag 12s and a sundown facing forward in my car...its not completely sealed off buts its still good...i asked around and the additional work to foam-in the trunk wouldnt even be worth it.

my trunk rattles but 1-2layers of deadening should solve that....mine gets realll loud and hurts my ears on just 10...havent gotten metered yet though.

the amount of trunk rattle i get now makes me wonder how bad itd be if i faced them towards the rear....the trunk would fly open or something lol.

i might sound biased but..it easy to hit 150

right power and the right box and your good to go

i didnt say the rite sub because me and a friend was bullshitting one day and built a box for 4 pyramid super blue 10's and was able to do mid 140's with music on the tl mic at the kick

so i know if we burped it..we could have seen close if not 150 on the dot

80

my box is sub firing to cabin, external ports to passenger side. i did a even 149.0 car off. if i did get a battery im almost positive with some voltage i can break a 50. money is just the issue. i find that its really all in the box.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you can get trunk cars loud but youll need alot of power at least twice the amount or a 3db increase over hatches/suvs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif to hit 150db you have to find your magic note build a really rigid enclosure, and have lots of power. Im currently at 151.?? on the tl in my neon but i have tons of power too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif soon im getting a hatch there most definetly easier to get loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
