Trunk build port placement?

When it comes to doing a trunk wall & sealing it off with subs/port firing forward how much does port placement effect the sound? Right now I have 2 DC Xlm2 12s in a 3.5cf box tuned to 35hrtz with slot port on drivers side, is there any noticeable increase or decreases in anything if I put the port on the passenger side or rebuild the box with port in the middle?
