Troubleshooting my install job

Hell all,

I got my sister a pair of 12" clarion subs and a clarion 420w amp for christmas.

I wired everything together and tested it in the driveway, the system was up, I tuned it, messing with the gain and LPF.

An hour later I got a call from my sister, "Zack, whenever I start driving my subs stop working!"

Sure enough, the subs only work when the car is completely stopped. Parked in the driveway, I will be playing the subs at full volume, I will put the car in reverse and as the car backs out the subs will slowly fade out until they completely stop playing sound. If I apply the brake and stop in the driveway, the music will fade back in and start working again perfectly....

What the hell can this mean?

Thanks, Zack

Have some one back up the car while you look at the amp and check the voltage with a dmm, also see if it goes into protect.

What you have for wiring?

Are you connected to the hi level or rca input from hu?

Does the hu stop working too?

Where did you connect your amp rem wire to?

Give us a break down how you wire up the system.

I'm the only one home right now so I'll check if the amp goes into protect, later. What is a DMM? I bought a 1000w wiring kit by SoundQuest just incase if she ever wanted to upgrade anything. It's connected to the RCA Inputs on the amp and the HU. The headunit works fine the whole time. I spliced the remote wire into the the back of the headunit into one of the wires back there, it was labeled something like Amp turn on, I can't remember for the life of me and I cut that wire and cant find the part I cut off.

Ill post pictures in my next post. I wired the power wire from the red terminal on my battery to the +12v input on my amp. I wired the rcas from the amp to the the back of the headunit. The remote wire from the REM slot on my amp to the wire behind my HU that I described earlier. The wire from the amp to the subwoofers. The GND wire from my amp to a metal bracket on my car. I'll label all the pictures I post.

pics would help too dawg.

got the remote wire hooked up to the video cut off wire or something of that sort?
Which wire should the remote wire be hooked up to?

which blue wire?

should be one labeled remote or B+, i think most decks it a blue with white line

yeah im willing to bet the wire you have that hooked up to is like a dimmer for something that was on the stock deck or something of that sort.

I found a blue wire with a white line called "Amp turn on"

If this is the right wire, should I splice it directly into the HU or somewhere else along the wire?

And get some heat shrink or electrical tape on that battery positive wire before it shorts out on something.
I've got plenty of a electrical tape, I'll go tape it up, thankyou for the advice!

it also looks like the ground on the amp has some strands that might touch the remote on amp...gets some terminals and tidy up all the ends .then make sure u have the remote tapped into the right wire...plug it to direct 12v and see if the problem goes away.. if it does u got the remote tapped into wrong wire
