Im getting a MT 18" and im trying to figure out what to put it in. ive got someone helping me with a design for a T line box and ive already got plans for a ported box. ive never heard a tline box so im wondering which would be better for me? i like deep bass but im looking for something **** loud for a dd. i have 3000rms to mess with..what would u recommend?

what kinda vehical is this 18" sub going in? a t-linee for a 18" sub would be huge, if i had to quess id say 12 - 15 cubic feet.. i have designed and contructed t-lines and unless you have a suv or full size van i know think it wont fit. if you do have the space, i wouldnt run 3000 watts to your mt in a t-line. t-lines are very effecent and dont need alot of power to sound good. id run at most 500-800 watts rms and see how the sub handles it. anyone correct me if im wrong.

T-lines are built for sound quality. Who's designing it, because you honestly want someone with lots of experience.

i might be going with a folded horn enclosure. o and i have an xplorer so..i can do up to 17 cu ft. but then again i might end up just goin ported

i have been down the horn path for explorer. there is the "wicked one" horn. but its not a true horn. the back chamber is sealed. even when modifications are put on like this one it still cannot get louder than a ported box. i havent built one but i talked to a guy that has tried all sorts of things with them

horns are almost out of the picture for explorer. first off, no sq at all. it would need to tuned higher because of the smouth size. another thing is you will prolly need a wall because of the smouth size once again. once you put a wall in you will be competing against people with 18'' walls. and the design is very complicated.

if you do end doing a horn it will need to a be a wall. i also do i have about 150 pages for everything you will need to know for designing a horn.

and for everybody that doesnt know, the horn is the most efficient enclosure

I say tlines are made to help cheap speakers get loud. But tline are very efficent and sound amazing, they are not good for putting up numbers.I also have a 18 waiting to be installed,I am going with the standard ported box cuz I am positive its loud,I will build a tline for it when I get the time and funds.I am still learning more about them,Theres a few tricks to help spl and power handling.
