Toyota MR2

hi, my friend has a 91 toyota MR2 and it is a rear-engine car so if he were to put subs in it has to go in front of the car. because the hood is actually the trunk in MR2's if you didn't happen to know. he really wants to get some low-end bass but can't figure out if he should just go with some tube drivers such as bazooka to save space? or do they sound like crap? he wants quality and loudness.. is there a bazooka that good? or should he just go with 2 8's? if so, what two 8's are good and can go in an enclosure small enough to fit behind the seats of the mr2. keep in mind the mr2 is a 2-seater car.

Bazooka is pretty bad. Some of their tubes have crappy built in amps. It all depends on how much money he wants to spend.

I would recommend getting 2 Infinity Kappas... and have them mounted somewhere in the hood/trunk. they dont require a box, as they use free air. Mounted right, they sound great.

My family owns a 89 MR2... I wouldn't suggest doing anything with it. The car rattles to much just because of the engine. I can't even imagine having subs in the front, because all he will hear is his car rattling. Tell him ot save up for a decent car.

Hey now, MR2's kick ***! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

I have a '91 MR2 Turbo T-Top and use two 8" woofers mounted behind each seat, in the space traditionally used to house the glass T-Tops when they are not on the top of the car. Small amplifier resides underneath the passenger seat... so it certainly is possible to make it work.

I will soon be moving my spare tire (which is under the hood) to the trunk of the car, and mounting a much larger amp under the hood and possibly enlarging the custom boxes that reside behind each rider's seat. If you really wanted to mount your subs under the hood, I would recommend rearranging the materials in there so that you can fire the sub's into the footwell of the passenger side. This is more of a major job than simply installing smaller woofers behind the seats though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Good luck!.. oh and for two great 8's, take a peak at these bad boys coming out in about one month //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
