no sorry i got outta work late however i stopped by a shop and was talking bout breakin the w6's down to 1 ohm and he said no, they cant break down to 1 ohm and he wouldnt reccommend it however he then said i need a better amp and told me to get a performance technique 3000/1 mono amp. and i mentioned the flickering and he said i dont need a 8 farad amp, and a 5 farad amp is fine yet they were both the same lmao... so im done w. these shops... imma work on it myself
Yeah... That's pathetic.
My local shop actually admits caps are total pieces of junks. They just keep a few around in case some poor guy is dead set on one. The only thing closest to a cap I would say that's decent is a batcap - and it's mainly if you don't get a fast enough discharge off the battery (those are unique situations typically).
Few things - have you searched for how to do the big 3 electrical upgrade? If you do that, that's the first start. That'll help get rid of any dimming and etc. Check the wiring connections, too - the ground, mainly - is it a solid connection, does it look loose at all? The dimming is from the power being sucked out of the system - likely, if you're getting dimming, it is @ 1 ohm, pulling full power - but that's not a guarantee. The electrical upgrade will help, and if it doesn't fix it, a small second battery in the back is the way to go.
Second off - check the wiring on the subs. If they are dual 4 ohm, they need to be wired in parallel - all the connections. Essentially, you'll have all the positives running together into one wire, into the positive on the amp, and all the negatives ran the same way together. Do these first.
Third off - these subs are excellent. Maybe a tad on the expensive side if buying retail, but they're good subs. RE would be similar, a bit cheaper - but if you already have these, I wouldn't recommend trying to sell them off and get new ones.
If you still have problems with these (I'm not sure what your goals are in mind, though), then come back. At 1 ohm, off the amp, you aren't going to see much change in output no matter what you do, unless you put quite a bit of money into it. That'll basically be as loud as it can go clearly. With the electrical upgrades, your car should be fine to handle the power, too.
