which single 8? Dd 1508 or w7

DD, if your feeding it that much power just make sure your box is good. But it loves 1000watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

DD FTW!

The W7 can take that much power I installed on one on a PG tantrum 1200 - it had a lot of output but you could bottom it out on super low bass - the excursion was past 2" peak to peak at that volume level pretty amazing.

For SPL the DD should be louder and take the power pretty well.

I figured everybody would say dd. Would the dd need more space in cubes? Or would it be about the same?
i think the dd goes in a smaller ported box than the w7. never worked with the DD, but i have done the JL. .5 sealed or .75-1.25 ported seemed decent for the W7. only done 2 boxes for the 8w7, so i'm not extremely experienced with that particular sub. i do have to say though, it was good for an 8. one guy had a cheap crunch 1000 watt amp. sm1000.1? so he maybe had 500 watts pushing it. sounded good. the other guy had a kicker 750 on it. i was impressed with it. best 8 i've ever heard in terms of output and sq (never heard the DD mind you). didn't have a problem with it bottoming out on low notes. i liked it. with that said, i'd still take a small box 10 over the 8w7. there are 10's that can be ported in under 1.25 cubes.

I have two 8W7's in a sealed enclosure and with about 400w on each of them. Probably more, since the SAX-125.2 = 400w bridged @ 4ohm... but the 8W7 is a 3ohm load.

Even in a sealed enclosure, it's a little too loud. I've only had them in my car for a month or so and I'm already looking at replacing them with a single 10.

The subs sound amazing. Not once have I thought it sounded the least bit muddy or distorted. If I have one complaint, I don't think these play very low. Maybe 35 Hz or something.

I'm most likely going to go with Image Dynamics IDQ 10" subwoofer. I'm so pleased with the sound quality of the CXS64 components, I am eager to try an IDQ sub.. especially with a Fs of 25 Hz.

I have not heard the Digital Designs sub, but everything I've read is that it is designed for high power and volume. The 8W7 is loud enough for me.
