Their is no way a jl 500/1 rated at 500rms push more than an hifonics rated at 900 rms at 2ohms like you stated. I just don't see it happening. I'm telling you upgrade your electric, big 3, battery and you will be fine. Just because it's JL doesn't meant you need JL everything.

Keep the subs! Get a better box and amp. A 500/1 will only power 1 w6 to its full potential. A 1000/1 would be ideal, but their costly. Therer are less exspensive alternatives, but I dont know what they are. You need to do some electrical upgrade, but not a cap. Good luck.

i think imma jus stick w. the w6's... and work the electric. now another question to fix / upgrade my electric work on the car, should i go to a stereo shop or and actual bodyshop / electic auto shop

If you have an electrical shop close to you, see if you can get them to rewind your alternator to provide you with more charging amps. Do your Big 3 upgrade, and possibly get a better battery, like the biggest Kinetik you can fit up front.

Also, I hate to break it to you, but your Hifonics Brutus 1206D DOES NOT provide 900 watts RMS @ 2 ohms without clipping. Sorry, but that particular class of amp had a track record of being over rated. At 1 ohm, it is probably closer to 900 watts, but at 2 ohms you are lucky if you are getting 700 clean RMS watts!

ETA: Judging by what you said earlier regarding the 8 farad cap, I would stay FAR away from that stereo shop with regards to doing an alternator install!

Here's my free .99 advice. Do the big 3, if you don't know how there is a thread showing you how. It's simple and pretty inexpensive. Probally cost you 20 bucks at the most. Then if you still are not seeing a good gain in your subs purchase a small battery here on the classifieds. Maybe a kinetik, powermaster, or optima YT. You won't need nothing huge, because your not running alot. 2nd batteries a hooked up just like caps. Hell on hc600 is equal to 100 capacitors. Caps

Honestly.... I went from 500 watts to 800 watts on my 13w6v2 and I didn't notice a single difference except it hit the lows a tiny bit better... I'm sure you are fine with what you have now if that amp is putting out its rated power.

Im suprised noone said reground lol. id try that first im running my bxi 1206 at 1ohm and not getting any dimming with stock electrical and a smaller alt than yours.

I never did understand why a store, a place that is suppose to know the ins and outs of ca, still recommend caps and say it with a straight face, even when it's a bold face lie. D*mn anything for a sale. For 130 you could get a good battery used.

Because, after they sell the poor ****er the cap and the problem worsens, then they can recommend a battery TOO, or sell them a new amp or new speakers or some other random ****ing shit that they don't need.

How did you wire those subs to 2 ohms? Dont they only make dual 4's?? So maybe you have it wired at 4 ohms and that might be your problem

honestly i didnt wire em, a shop did the installation, idk how they wired em but i do remember the box saying dual 4ohm tho

if its the same shop that recommended the 8 farad cap then i would also question what they are wired at..

Dual 4 ohm should be wired to 1 ohm on that amp and that will give both subs a clean 500wish each.

If possible i would check to see how the subs are wired up. Or Ask the shop you got them from how they wired them.

was not the same shop, however can i check them and if they're more than 1ohm each i should wire them both to 1ohm each and thats the best ouput ill get with that amp?

wouuld you recommend RE over JL?
