Tough Decision About My 2 Jl W6's Please Help

I Have 2 12" Jl Audio W6 Running Off A Hifonics Brutus Bxi1206d Amplifier. The Amp Can Hold 900 W. X 2ohm Rms. However, Its Tough To Keep Dishing Out All This Money To Make My Jl's Knock To Their Best Potential. My Headlights Will Dim And A Shop Told Me I Need To Buy A 8 Farad Capacitor Which Is $130. Point Is, Im Spending Soooo Much Money On These. Anyway My Question Is:

1. If I Sold My W6's And Kept My 1200w Hifonics Amp Should I Just Buy A Kicker L5 Or L7?

2. If Yes, Will They Hit Hard As The W6's Or Harder?

3. Will My Amp Hold The Power Of The Sub Without Turning Off?

4. Should I Just Downgrade Big Time And Just Buy 2 12" Kicker Cvrs And Def. Push The Subs To Their Fullest Potential?

5. Should I Just Keep The W6's And Just Work My Way Around Them? If So, What Do You Suggest

Wow you were a big help here.

As everyone is going to tell you, NO on the cap.

Go ahead and do the big three. It's cheap and easy. All you do is make an extra ground for your battery. Then run the positve battery connection to the positive alternator connection. There is a sticky here which will guide you through all of it. Keep the W6's those are amazing subs.

i would sell the Hifoniics, use the $130 and the $ from amp sale and buty a better amp. Also do the big three.

Why not just keep the setup you have and not drive them to their full potential? The w6's aren't SPL drivers anyway.

You could start out by building a larger, higher tuned box if you wanted to get louder. Big 3 would also be helpful to help alleviate your dimming problem.

I never did understand why a store, a place that is suppose to know the ins and outs of ca, still recommend caps and say it with a straight face, even when it's a bold face lie. D*mn anything for a sale. For 130 you could get a good battery used.

i have a 2005 chevy impala. just a regular box, however i know im goin to need a better box for better sound and bass, also i have a optima battery, so it seems like a new to the cap... any suggestions on a better amp?

I say add a small battery in the back, the more juice the more power to your seems. Alot of people under rate their amps because their electric isn't up to par.

no cap,yes big three fisrt.

I use to have an alpine 600watt amp which i remember the modle number,but it wouldn't or not powerful enough for my 12w6v2, but i went out & got a jl 500/1 and wow it makes my sub hit, i mean really hit hard for a SQ sub.

it gets loud in my hatch so if you get another amp & play with another box size.

i think if your'e sealed you can go up 1.8 cubit feet

2 at least for a port

they placement in you vehicle as well before you give up on your subs

thanks alot so 1 JL 500/1 amp will push the w6v2's well? or just 1 500/1 amp for one 12 w6v2?

You should hear what the local shops around here do. They sold this kid on a 5 farad cap, saying that he DID NOT need to get a HO alternator or a better battery. They had no problems installing a 2,000+ watt RMS setup in his Civic with only that cap I say 2000 plus because I know he was running two JL Audio 1000/1s but I don't know what he had on the mids/highs.

Then again, this same shop also had another kid convinced that his JL Audio 500/1 was delivering 950 watts RMS to his 12" Type R subwoofer. That kid was butt hurt when I told him that I had a 10" sub that would smoke his 12" Type R. He was really butt hurt when I showed him!

I really feel sorry for the locals who do not perform their research and believe with the lying POS sales associates tell them.

wow thats whack... im fairly a newbie to the subwoofer game, im still tryin to understand the wattage aqnd how much i need to push the subs and stuff so please bare with me lol
