Total Newb here. I want to build a system

The Xtant is nice but a little out of my budget.

O.k., I am going with the Alpine 9847.

I am going to buy a relatively modest 1000 watt amp.

Now what components and coaxials should I get now?

For comps, around $140 shipped after coupons I believe (HCCAFan)

SE 12, $150 shipped

For speaks, are you sure it's 6x9s? I have a Jeep GC (93) and mine are 6.5'' at the doors. I did not have Infinity though, but I still dont remember reading anything on Jeep forums about 6x9s.

i would personally go with 1 12 inch 187 from Incriminator Audio, a good 600 watt amp, (something like a hifonics 1000d) a set of crystal audio comps, and a 2 channel hifonics amp. they are great budget amps, AMAZING budget sub, and nice componants. im going from what reviews i've read, as i have no experience with them but many have. this would all run u......650+all wiring, so.........700 or so. the sub is supposed to be rediculous for the cost:performance ratio.

187: roughly 90-100 bucks shipped

crystal comps: 150 shipped

hifonics 1000d:ebay for cheap

hifonics 2 channe: ebay for cheap

box: pm me

I dont know of any speakers that can handle 1000rms, why are you so stuck on that number? Also, where can you find a 1000x4 amp?

A 50x4 will be plenty of power for the calibur of speakers you're looking at, and 600rms into a single 12'' SE will blow you away.

Arent the IA subs sold directly at MSRP?

MSRP: 10 Inch: $129 - 12 Inch: $139

Note that is before shipping, where a 12SE is 147 shipped. I THINK that is how they are priced, if not someone let me know please. The 187 would keep up SPL wise but for sure the SE would beat it in SQ. For same price, why not get same SPL and better SQ? Although IA 187s are nothing to laugh at, by any means.

And forget Hifonics for the price IMO. Both of the amps I posted would blow away the Hifonics you can get in the price range, and are underrated compared to the overrated Hifonics.

Maybe I have this all wrong. I thought a 1000watt amp is pretty good power isnt it? obviosly divided up and different ohms etc..

I see 1200, 1600 and then some.

I just like the idea of 1000watt 4 channel amp with the Alpine Head Unit.

Its kind of the starting point I really wnated. You think its too much or not needed?

I see a ton of amps like Boss and Phoenix and a few others on ebay and overstock at 100.00 or less and these are 600, 800 and 1000 watt 4 channels.

Are these not good ideas?

How important is the amp for the overall system performance?

I thought Boss was highly respectable?

1000 watts is pretty good power, IF it is clean power and RMS. The main thing you need to know is you usually get what you pay for, aka you pay $100 for a 1500 watt amp and you're NOT going to get 1500rms for sure, unless you are getting a KILLER deal from someone who doesn't know what their item is worth.

The power is divided up to the number of subs you have. The ohm load the amp runs at depends on the configuration of the sub, therefore you pick the sub and then pick an amp that will run at the ohm load the sub has.

You're not going to find a 1000 x 4 amp, at least not near within your budget.

The starting point you want should NOT have to do simply with the power of your amps.

Read what others have posted, and get an amp around 50x4 for your speakers and 600-1000rms for the sub/s you decide on. I dont think you'll find much better then the stuff I posted, and it would be a great starting point. Also flexible stuff, so when you decide to upgrade, it's not all worthless.

no, MSRP is exactly that....MSRP. call up IA and they can tell u an exact price. the only sub in stock is the 187 and it is i think 100 shipped, but call to make sure on that number.
Not bad at all. I think i've been quoted via email and it was right around MSRP, that's good to know though. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
