Total Newb here. I want to build a system

Hi everyone, whats goin on? well I have been reading alot of the posts in here and you guys really know your $hit.

I am totally new to all of this and dont have a clue about alot of the jargon, specs and technology.

I thought I would ask you experts. I have a Grand Cherokee Jeep and it has a stock Infinity Gold System. Obviously that sucks and I would like to upgrade.

I wont be enetering any crank it up contests.lol so I really dont need the most incredible system.

All I want is a 1,000 watt system with a sub. I would prefer not to spend a 1,000 if this is even possible. If the cheapest rout is to keep the stock system and then replace the speakers and amp, thats cool but I just want a pretty solid system without breaking the bank.

Any kind of setup you guys prefer or suggest would be awesome. Thanks everyone.

Forget about the watt requirement. It's a psychological thing. I don't have 1000 watts, and my car would rattle your pocket change.

to begin helping you, answer these questions

1) maximum budget (be more specific than "less than 1,000"

2) what you're looking for. subs and amp? new interior speakers? cd player? mp3 player? What do you need?

3) what type of music do you tend to listen to?

answer those 3 and we can help out some more. Remember there's literately thousands of products on the market, and thousands of different opinions on what works best. Be more specific.

Ok buy my jl 12w6v2, slap it in a ported box with a nice 500 amp that sht will get very loud and sound good and if u need a cd player I got one of the mp3 ones as well. I just dont have amp but can find you one you would be looking at around 315 for my sub and deck shipped or so and then a amp for about 150-200 and a build yourself a box

Thanks Cris. Youre right, I was thinking about it and forget about the high wattage. I realistically want to soend around 800.00

I can push it to 1,000 but the cheaper the better. I am new to all of this so for me, its kind of like a beginer system but I do want it to thump.

I would like an MP3 player, standard cd. Sirius Deck ready would be cool but not required.

I listen to mostly everything. From classic rock, rap, metal, alternative and some techno.

The stock system that came with the Jeep needs to be replaced. The head unit says this :

If I can keep my headunit and make it thump thats cool, it will save me money, If not I am cool with a solid beginers headunit.

I would like a subwoofer but I have absolutely no clue about any of this. I sure wish I would have gotten into this years ago. Oh well!!!

$1000 for subs/amps/speakers/deck. Does that money also go towards any installing? install accesory? You buying online or at a shop? How much cargo space you wanting to use?

Actually that does not include the installation. I was hoping to buy all my needs for under 1,000.

The more I think about it, I could probably spend less. I really dont need an earth rattling system, I just want something thats much louder than my stock syste,. Again, I am a newbie to all of this and I dont want to get way over my head. I am buying online. I Have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I dont want a huge subwoofer for the cargo. Just a good enough one that wont take up the cargo area.

50 watts x 4. Which this, you'll get plenty loud inside your car. This brings you to around $600 (fuzzy math).

Leaving you with enough money to buy the 12w6v2 (from VOA_nightmare, posted above, very trustworthy guy).

Then just get a good 400 watt x1 (@ 2 ohms) like this MTX amp.

You guys know anything about Phoenix Amps?

I have decided to go with the Alpine 9487. I would like a bigger amp though than 400w. Is this possible or will I have to get better speakers than the one cris lsited above?

I think I'll wait on the subwoofer and just get the Alpine, amp and all new speakers.

So my system will start out with the Alpine Deck 9487 and I will buy the Directed Audio 750D 750 WATT AMP.

Now, will I need better speakers than the one listed above or will that suffice?
