OK, well let me start by saying that due to the fact of owning a single cab pickup, I am very limited on my space/comfort ratio. I may need to correct myself later as I am doing this by memory.
Head Unit:
My head unit is a 2001 Alpine CDA-7875 65x4, 4-volt pre-outs w/remote and outputs for front, rear and sub. Yeah, 2001, but 65x4 is 65x4 and its loud as hell. The only complant that I have is it wont read CD-RWs or MP3 format. Funny story, I bummed this off my retarded unkle for $25 because he needed gas money and its the only thing he had that I wanted.
Dash/Rear trim speakers:
Here I have 4 Pioneer 4-way 4x6's rated at 35watts RMS each. Although they sound GREAT, they are priority #1 on the upgrade list as they are the first speakers to max out.
Rear (aftermarket additions):
Behind my bench seat I was able to squeeze a pair of MTX XT693 3-way 6x9s in a pair of scosche boxes. They are rated at 40 watts RMS each (way under rated IMO). These are running to my amp.
Amp:
Here I have a Pyramid 4-channel 600 watt amp. I know, I know, Pyramid isnt exactly the greatest brand of anything to have, but this amp is one exeption. It is a fantastic amp and powers my sub/6x9 combo wonderfully. I admit, I dont know the RMS of this, but my American Pro 600 watt 4ch amp shot craps and I was in need of a new amp and this was only $40 off craigslist. I got lucky on my selection as it was kind of impulsive.
Now, for the sub.
I took alot off time an consideration choosing my sub, spent hours reserching and looking at many brands and models untill I chose this one. I based My chosen sub not only off of reviews, but also off of what I had to power it, and how much space I had to work with. I am VERY happy with my secection and would recomend it to anyone looking to get bang out of a fairly low wattage sub. So here you go.
12" MTX TR5500 (TR5512) rated at 800 watts peak (like that matters) and 400 watts RMS. This thing will make your freakin ears pop, your hair move, blur your vision and the bass feels awesome. I find it impressive for a single 12 powered by my low watt amp.
The box is perfect for the sub to. By some gift of luck, it came with my firebird and I was able to squeese it into my truck. I have not calculated the volume of it though.
Wireing:
Aside from the OEM wireing to the 4x6 speakers in the stock locations, I use only the best I can afford. I have 14 guage wire to the 6x9s and the sub (in the boxes too) and my power wire is the biggest I could find for the cheapest price. Its a 4 guage Audiopipe that I picked up at a pick-'n'-pull for $12 w/fuse block and fuse. It runns to a 2-way distribution block. after that I think its 1 ft of 8 guage to connect to my amp.
Also with a 8 guage ground wire. The remote wire is pretty hefty too, although I dont recall the guage.
All this set up has got me one MEAN system. I is very, very loud but has a good balenced mix of highs, mids and bass. I am very happy with everything I have done with my system and, although I know it dosent need to be louder, I cant wait for my future upgrades.
