To MTX 9500 sub owners

I am considering buying two Mtx 9500 and wanted some imput. i have a MMats D3500.1, which I have personally seen this amp draw 262 amps @ 13.8. Which equals to around 3600 watts. Do you think that two of these subs would be able to handle the abuse of that. I have tried JBL Gti's, the cone blew off the basket. I tried Alpine Type R's, they caught litterally on fire. I have read many reviews and seen online a video where it took 3500 watts for a hour to blow one sub. I just wanted some good input. By the way, my box in my Pontiac G6 is tuned for 32 hz, ported at 2.25 cubic ft.

I know a dealer I use to deal with, he has 2 12" MTX 9500's and 2 MTX 4001D's strapped, so they're both seeing over 2k daily, and they take quite a beating. I also know a few other guys feeding them about 1500-2250 daily. Personally, I was going to get the Autotek MM4000, and feed them each 2000watts rms daily. They're good subs, people just think they're bad just because they're mainstream.

I'm still decided wheather to get the MTX 92001 or the Autotek MM4000. I can get the MTX 92001 brand new for about $500 from a local wholesale so i'm thinking i'm just going to go with that.

Dont be a shithead and abuse subs like that and you will be be suprised how long a sub will last. Why dont you get 3/4 of them and gve them there rated ( a little over) power?

I don't know. I had only 1200rms on each one. Had 4 of them and it beat hard, never got warm or any strong smell. I imagine you give it twice the amount of power, then it might be pushing it. I wouldn't do it if I was you being you have had bad luck with the other subs. Why not keep the shit turned down some?

I would go with something that is meant to handle that much power daily, like a BTL.

If you're smart, I bet they would handle the power but it seems like you literally beat the crap out of your subs.

mtx makes a good sub they 9500 are the beast of them all and they are not getting any play cause they are mainstream and i think more ppl should get them. i have the 7500's 12 and i am loading about 1000 watts a piece to each sub daily at 1 ohm off my bx 2006. the max handling on that sub is like 1200 i think and i have about 1100 going into one right now on my setup tuned to about 38 and it pounds hard as hell. they take a beating and keep on ticking yes but u have to be responsible enough to know when to back off and stop assin around tryin to be cute. what u are doing is burning money and if u got it like that then more power to ya son.

When those subs blew I had the volume at 20/33, with my clarion unit the music does not get what I call loud until volume 24, then 30 is just straight ridiculous. Plus, my gain for my mono is set at 1/2. It is a bad *** amp, maybe too bad *** for sq subs.

I played it smart with the alpines, I bought them at best buy, they blew up and I got my money back. No money lost. The Gti's, I think that was a defective sub, those are a solid voice coil, not a wrapped coper wire voice coil like the Type R, I doubt that the amp will blow them. I think the cone was unproperly glued in the factory. Shit happens man.

I have some some reviews online that state they are only a SPL sub. Do you think that have potential to be a SQ sub. Also, have you ever DB'd your setup. If so, share results.

Im currently running 2 MTX 9512's with a TA92001 @ 1 ohm 3500+watts and they have no problem taking the power. I play my music loud for 45 mins back and forth to work everyday and have never smelled voice coil. I dont think these subs would have a problem running 2k daily.

Have you DB metered your setup yet. What vehicle are they in. Have any vids to share?
