RF P2 10" vs. Alpine Type-R 10"

Just wondering if anyone had some input on how the two compare. They are both roughly have the same power handling, around 500 RMS. Which would get louder, which would sound better?

They'd be running off 500 watts each in a ported box.

Type R definately.. way nicer than a P2

I figured i'd chime in here. How come my Alpine Type-R 12" doesnt get as loud as a RF P2 and the Type-R has MORE power.

Im rather flustered with my entire system at this point,, tbh.

Both in a sealed box although I think the P2s box was a little bigger.

if you have 500 watts for a punch in an optimum box, and 1000 for an R in an optimum box, the R will destroy it

well it sounds unanimous that the R is better. but i should've clarified. it's gonna be dual tens. i got the box already, a nice big ported box. it had a couple of P1's in it that were blown and destroyed and trash. so needing subs for it, i'm thinking either the R's or P2's punch series. regardless, still 500 watts to each.

not that having two subs would change anything i suppose. the R is probably still better?

Wouldn't a p3 and an R be more comparable? I'm just going off the specs.

oh and I would build a new enclosure for those subs. It would be the only way to really get full potential from them (as for any sub).

well.. since you wont be feeding the Rs as much, they wont be performing as they should... youd be wanging the crap out of the P2s though for sure. they wang off of 300 watts bad so idk. if you go with Rs, youd want a much bigger ported box to make them sound good.

well the ported box is pretty big. i'm just trying to decide between the subs because they're both in the same price range: mine. i havent ever heard some type r's besides one in a sealed tiny truck box so it wasn't the same. but lotsa folks say they are some bang for the buck.
