Time for new mids

Aperiodic venting into another air space! Yields incredibly articulate low end extension and makes the driver less reactive for the amplifier.

I'm not modding the car. If I can match what I have now without the occasional scratching I'll be perfectly fine. If I'm going that far I'd do a 8 in the kicks and vent into the frame.

The IDQ is playing up to 120hz really nice so that helps.

If you really want midbass try to seal up the doors. You know the more the cone moves the worse it sounds..
They are fine. Only happens when I really push it. It don't help that I have to add a bit of boost in the mid range to even then out with the drivers side. But I got enough power to keep it clean.

The doors are sealed up as much as they are going to be.

no one here is smart enough to help you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

you wouldnt make a makeshift enclosure for the driver? Sealing the entire door just sounds like a fruitless effort
building a ported enclosure in the door definitely seems like the best thing to do

i figured sealing the door was what you do with a small interior door space, or the step before building an enclosure in the door

It's not that.

I'm staying in lower classes. I don't have the funds or willingness to tear the car apart to go into the upper mod classes.

A car audio designed mid is designed to work well in a door. A door with the large gaps sealed is ideal. You start shrinking the space and you lose the low end.

Could glass something if ya have the drive to do so. That and space

It's not going to make enough of a gain. You are talking about 2 cubes. That's almost impossible and not worth the effort.

And that moves into classes with $10,000 builds

Let the enclosure roll the mid off naturally.

Once you try it you will be glad you did. Nast odd order harmonics from IMD are way worse than even order from over damped fr..

I did it with the Scion. It don't work like that. Phase becomes a issue at high volume. This car measures much better IB. I was forced to in the Scion due to the huge midbass that shared its space. In some ways this car has better midbass. But that's due to the sub playing higher

right on. this thread is giving me some great fodder for thought about how this midbass from the door speakers is actually achieved. good stuff

Loading the cones is usually a bad thing unless you are trying to stablize the impedance.

I'm talking strictly about acquiring the proper qtc. This will not on control mechanical but inductive distortion while increasing powerhaniling and sounding more natural.
