I tend to favor the sound of .577 to for some reason. I also never use a 12dB filter slope for probably that same reason. I tend to favor asymmetrical slopes of 18dB low pass/6dB high pass partnered up. I just get a more faithful phase lock that way. Allows you to leave all drivers in the correct polarity, none of that inverting phase to make them place nice in the overlap region. Also offsets some of the off-axis problems presented in the vehicle. But you can't do that until you know the drivers are playing flat for the next two octaves into the stopband, so that presents some interesting challenges for the tweeters if the drivers are spaced too far apart. Definitely requires a tweeter that can comfortably play low, regardless.
Oddly enough, I also build my vented enclosures to mimic a .577 rolloff. That's fun.
