time for a new car

I'm pretty sure it would beat a miata... its built to rally. Rally cars will handle better than a rwd sports car. AWD>RWD/FWD and with subies new sdrive stuff to help manage power to wheels it would take a miata.

Someone said something earlier about VTEC... it depends on which car you're looking at. Yes, every manufacturer has some form of VTEC (VVTI for example which I believe Toyota uses?) but none of them are nearly as aggressive as the ones on Honda's sportier cars like the Civic Si and s2000. You actually HEAR the crossover point clearly when you go through the RPM range. The other Hondas (like my accord) you don't really notice much, other than maybe a slight increase in power.
X2. I mentioned an Si and Vtec. The 99-00 Si's with the B16 are really nice engines and are real quick. The Japanese with all this technology is amazing. I have a muslce car with a V8 350 and am getting an Si real soon.

i agree with Loud3 on the miata vs wrx bit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

if the wrx was built to be such a rally machine, and the miata was built for the track, wouldn't the miata have the advantage on the track? not to mention there are loads of people that track and race miatas.

Well track and rally are very similar... both twisty and lots of turns. main difference is that rally is on dirt or snow and track is paved (most of the time) so if a car can perform on minimal traction surfaces don't you think it would really shine when thrown on pavement? Exactly!

As far as this VTEC on the hondas goes.... stop talking about it almost every single car produced has a variation of vtec these days and it doesn't really help with speed as much as it was designed to help with gas milage while still giving the ability to have top speed.

My buddy had a Miata and the thing could turn on a dime. Well duh, one of shortest wheel bases you will find. I just don't think they are that fast. Now the Speed version, I don't know, never been in one. I also agree they look like something a chick would drive, not that I care, hell I drive a chick car as well for the most part.

Rally racing is completely different than track racing, and on a track, RWD is king. AWD induces understeer and throttle steer, which is not good on a track. Not saying that the WRX doesn't have good handling or that the problems with AWD can't be overcome, but you're comparing very different monsters here.

Now, if the road was wet, if I was driving on dirt, snow, or anything other than a race track, the WRX would have the upper hand. But there is no way that a stock WRX would out-track a stock MX-5. It's not meant to.

Correction, every Miata before the current one is a chick car. The new ones look pretty badass

Dude, it is my opinion. You seem to be a fan of them and so be it. Sorry, but to me they look like a hot bish would drive it.

Take that how you want it, but like I said, I drive a chicks car, 2006 Ford Focus ST, 4dr sedan with some mods to it. It is what it is till I take off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lawlers! Hey, your stuck on the Saturn Redline Ion, when you wanted to hear our opinions. Either way if you didn't, you will get them.
well im considering peoples thoughts but someone got butt hurt when someone else trashed talked a miata and now thats all this thread is about a miata

A little late to the party posting something regarding something I read on page 3.

Newer cars that use premium fuel are able to compensate for regular, as car companies know there are people who feel the need to save that $5/tank and buy the wrong octane.
