Thoughts on this beginner setup.

I just bought my first ever speaker and want y’all’s thoughts on it. I bought a package so I wouldn’t buy any speakers and amps that didn’t match.

is this good for a beginner? Thanks.

It will work for what it is. A basic beginner system. You won't find any love for Skar around here though. Just install it and enjoy it. You will probably want a more customized setup in the future with gear that is better and probably more cost effective. Just being honest. Enjoy it though!

Hey, I appreciate the response and I know what you mean. I heard the owner is shady as **** and all kinds of other things but the reviews for the speaker that I bought were just unavoidable.

Recommendations for the future? What are some good speaker brands and what do you mean by customizable? I really don’t know how long I will have these. I feel like they’re not going to be good at all.

Meaning a box built specifically for your sub and it's needs. Brands are somewhat of a personal choice dependant on your goals, SPL, SQ, or SQL. Your vehicle will play a factor in your future system. Such as, your electrical system and available space for a sub box. Of course, budget will always be involved, as well.

Ahhh, ok.

What is your current vehicle? And, what is your current goal? People usually start off with a goal, for their system and then, assemble their system to accomplish that goal.
Just got the car about a week ago as my first car. It’s a Kia Optima 2017 LX. I just want a sound system that booms with good bass. Speakers can be a bit pricey tho so I don’t really know. Should I return the scar speakers and get better ones maybe? Can I test them out and then return them?

I would suggest to install it and see if it's enough for you. You might want to eventually go with dual subs, replace the stock speakers and install an amp for your mids/highs as well. I've been in your situation years ago. Just install it and enjoy it. Anything is an improvement over a stock system. You could always do a simple upgrade to a four channel amp. The front two channels to some new nice coaxials and the rear two channels to the sub. It sounds like you are on the right track though.

Even though I have no idea what you’re talking about, I feel like I’ll learn more in the future and will learn from this speaker. Thanks.

A lot of people's first systems consist of replacing the front door speakers with a higher quality speaker. Then, you buy a sub in a box and get a four channel amp. So, two channels for the doors and two channels for the subwoofer. If you have rear door speakers, then, you can run them off of the deck (head unit) power. I hope that helps you understand.

Definitely scour the forums and learn. It is fun to do and when you finally do some of your own work, it is very satisfying. Skar gets no love because of the owners past practices here. Sold b-stock as new, basically rode Jacob from sundown and then shit on him. For what they are, they are ok. It’s basic off the shelf Chinese stuff that looks like sundown (that’s why it’s so popular).

A perfect example is Bobbytwonames. He was mentally challenged when he started here and is now slightly less mentally challenged (progress) haha.

Im just busting balls. Seriously, don’t be afraid to ask opinions/questions. You’ll get shit on by some but we’ve all been there.

Hey, I came back from being over negative 250. No worries, people on here don't really know ME anyway. I just wish that some more people on here would have the balls to post pics of their vehicle(s), systems, and videos. A lot of "keyboard Warriors" out there.

I can post some pics of my vehicle if you’d like. I posted pics of my new box and have the led’s in now. Still gotta figure out how I’m going to do the amp though. I will be redoing my f-150 soon as well and will post a build log

It just seems like people like to shit on people's systems and vehicles, yet, they will never post their stuff. I guess that they can't take pics from their parent's basement. They need to run their system, not their mouth.
