thinking about this setup

or

2 Alpine SWR-1242D hooked up to a Alpine PDX-1.1000 amp

which will sound better the eclipses or the alpines?? or are they're better subs for the money?(budget is around $900 for JUST the subs & amps) im more for SQ than SPL.

Those new alpine amps look sick. The type-r's will prolly want a little more power than that. For two, look for about 1500-1750 watts. Can't say anything bout the eclipse cuz i havent heard them.

both the eclipse and type Rs are 500 rms watts. the Amps powers 1000 rms watts. i dont see where your getting 1500-1750. im kind of new in this audio business, but this is what i was told by someone who knows alot.

anyone know if which are better tho? the eclipse or type Rs?

type r's can take about 800w daily but i would take the type r's over eclipse any day

I used to be one of them, i gave mine 1200+daily with no problems, the woofer really seems to come alive with 700rms going to it. I havent heard the eclipse sub but on the type r its sq isnt that great IMO, but can get pretty loud. The r's seem to like bigger boxs. Try serching theres a couple people on here who run them sealed and say they have good sq. I didnt have that luck:uhoh:

If you trying to buy right now, stick around the forum and see some of the other subs people are using and commenting on, might find somthing you will like better. Also check the classifieds you can find some **** good deals if you dont mind used.

the r's like SMALLER sealed enclosures and love power. i have 1400+ on 2 and they get loud. i have them in .925 cu. ft. sealed/sub and they pound metal and hip hop very well. i have no complaints for the 110$ apiece i spent for them. there are better subs, but dollar for dollar they're hard to beat.
