Thinking about building a sub, looking for a motor and basket ~1k

I have a little money to spend and I want to play around with different low tuned boxes. I want a sub leans towards high output but also has some sq too, like a nice all around sub. I don't want to spend much at all, maybe like $200 total for the motor with the basket and recone kit. Looking for something around 1000w rms but more is better. D2 is fine, VC size doesn't matter much, I want a 12" but I'll take a 15" too.

Guess I should say I'll take a good working sub shipped to me for about the same price.

With the average shipped price for a recone kit for it, will I still be at $200? Money is the main issue for me right now and can't go above $200

Doesnt have a drop in recone since its a custom... Cant go that low, if something chnages let me know thou...

Will do. This is just a learning experience for me. I'll end up selling it after I'm done making boxes for it and go with a different kind of sub, rinse and repeat.

I have a couple motors with 15" baskets attached they are 2.5" voice coil motors could do like $75 shipped on either pretty beefy motors.

got a 3" coil RF Punch HX2 motor laying around. I could do $70 shipped flat rate. find 12" 12spoke basket and recone and should be right at 200-225 total.

I have quite a few 1 of recone parts (coils, cones, spiders). Also have 15" 4 spoke basket for short money. Hit me up if you find a motor and need some softparts or the basket.

I have a couple nicer items but they'd put you out of your price range I think.

pics? Which soft parts would work with the motors, detailed measurements more specifically. Unless you want to give a list of links of a few places that has ideal parts for these motors.

EVERYONE has 3" coil stuff. Stick with 3" coil, get something with a big gap and standard bolt pattern and 8" spider landing. This gives you the most options for sourcing parts. Start getting into larger coils and spiders and money for parts will increase dramatically. In theory 2.5" stuff shouldn't be more money if you were ordering them from a manufacturer by the 1000, but you don't see a lot of one or tow-of parts come up on forums that you can grab on the cheaps.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to change direction a little and ask for 2 12's at 500rms each or 1 15 at 1-2000rms. 2 12's would be more attractive to any local buyers rather than 1 12.. it's all they seem to want. I can imagine myself wanting to move on to the next sub but wont have the funds to buy it cause no one will want want just 1 12. Guess it's time to look in the classifieds

I have an re se motor its 3" coil the other motors are a dayton something will have to look on the sticker ans the other is a parts express t something. The se motor I would let go for $75 shipped just the motor.
