I was talking about the newest line: 9872, 9874, 9884, 9886, 9887. I know before they used to make some stuff that was really geared towards SQ, the whole new line really is designed to make serious audiophiles buy IMPRINT. But to specify, Im not arguing with anyoone's old school recommendations but if you're an SQ person, in my opinion there's nothing worth buying that they're making right now aside from the 9887.

well i have the opinion that the only deck out of the newest line really worth it that has the best features is the 9887. they want a grip for that deck, and it doesn't really seem worth it to me so i thought i'd look into some of the older lines that imo seem better than the new line of decks they got. if i was going to get something newer i'd prolly just get a flip out.

The 9835 is a nice headunit, one of the better ones available however it does not even compare to something like the 7990..

well right now a friend has a 9835 i'm thinkin about coppin'. don't think i'd be able to affored a f1 status deck, although they look really nice, especially that 7990. what are some opinions on the 7897 or 7998 with the fantom face? they look really sweet how the face hides and all that, but i've heard people have had problems with the face mechanism jamming up, cd function problems, etc. thoughts???

I think there are a couple of people on here with one, i had one at one point but never got to install it.

I really like the iva-w series as well, with control over the h701 its hard to beat

Probably atleast 7 years ago. Anyone who has opened up an Alpine these days will find them built on the cheap by Chinese kids. I know someone who repairs decks and Alpine repair is a good chunk of his business.
