The Official Type R Thread

Anybody have a good ported box in the 30Hz range for me, I am a noob to this stuff but have aquired two new 12" type R's and have a Hifonics 1600 going to them but need a really good box for Sq and SPL if you got one!! Please HELP-Bryan!
have someone build u one thats your best bet.

Ok relatively speaking, im in college, so im broke. but money won't be too much of an issue, so im wondering what would be a better amp for 2 type r 12's.

Ive been reading up, and i know alot of ppl suggest the hifonics 1608.

if i went with the hifonics id run it at 1 ohm. Now what gets me is that, its probably not true watts. My subs wont be getting 100% of the 800 RMS that it would be giving to each.

So instead i started looking at a kicker zxt (sp) 06 1000watt monoblock.

Kicker would be true watts (and then some) and it would be much better matched...(not that it matters to a type r lol)

and its not a big deal to wait a paycheck or two more to get the kicker amp, you know?

just curious what yall think.

ALSO!! - Distortion at lower ohms. on the kick amp, id run it at 2 ohms, and 1 ohm if i run it on the hifonics amp. And in the future (or right off the bat) i might get an alpine amp that i can run at 2/4 ohms and get 1000 watts or something.

thanks

kyle

the 1606 gets mine really loud and they aren't even ported. I would go with the bxi 2008 though and just set your gains correctly.

and how would i know if my gains are way too much for the amps?

is there a "guage" or tool i can buy that will measure the rms? and how would i measure it with that instrument?
