The Official Type R Thread

I've been pretty pleased with my Type R so far but I've been considering getting a better amp. I currently am running an Audiobahn A8002T (800 RMS @ 4 OHMS) to it but I know I'm not getting all of those 800 RMS and it seems like the sub can take more. What would you guys recommend doing? Should I wire my sub differently and get a different amp or what? I'd like to put about 1,000 RMS to it but can't find an amp that does 1,000 RMS @ 4 OHMS because it's pretty impractical.
The Good News:

Rockford Fosgate Power T30001bd

» 1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (CEA-2006 compliant)

» 2,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

» 3,000 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm

The Bad News: $1,999.00

haha. Exactly. Price rockets when you do find something that can do 1,000 RMS @ 4 ohms. It's just not practical. Does anybody have any suggestions otherwise? I'm thinking I should wire my sub to a different load and get a different amp but what to get?

i am thinking about buying a 12" type r and running it off of my kicker kx1200.1 at 1 ohm. what size of ported box would you recommend? i dont have much space in my mustang but i waas thinking like 2.0 cuft at like 32 hz? is that good?

hey, ne1 know anything about punch 2's? my sisters friend has 2 and she said there louder than her other friends 2 12 inch R's??? can p2's get loud or is the dude with the R's just got the wrong power/box????

Would it be at all possible to mount a 12" Type R in a 14.5H x 18W x 5.5D1 x 8.5D2 box? That equals out to .683cuFt.

I've read that a Type R can be used in enclosures with an airspace of .57-1.0 CuFt. So how would it sound in the box described above?

Or is the mounting depth way too much? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
