yea, see I would do 4 12's sealed, but that would be to expensive for me. Only the Type r's because I can get them for 105 each....but they dont sound good sealed I guess.

it is going to be tough....i just built a 4ft^3 box after displacement and couldnt fit it in my taurus.

taurus has a small trunk, and i think snb your really choking off your trunk

I have a question which would be better for SQ the Type R or Infinity Kappa Perfect 10/12 in a sealed box? My brother wants one of the two but needs to know which one has the best SQ.

Ok...I think im going to attemps 10 cubes total, with displacement, fiberglass the wheelwell and the base of the trunk, and put the port through the arms rest on the back seat.

DO YOU THINK IT CAN BE DONE!!??





Ignore the deadner job...im not done, gonna add another layer and smooth things out.

Yea, that is what I was thinking about choking off the trunk, but I want to try it anyways sooo bad. I might end up going with 3 and give em up to 1000 each with like 3 cubes....

Ok, this is the Idea my guy put together today. We'll fiberglass the whole wheel well and bottom of my trunk, leave like 7-8" from the box to my back seat ok........Mount the 2 autotek amps on the sides because there are little pockets where I wouldnt be able to build the box into anyways.... Id make 2 seperate enclosures for 3, or 4 subs (either way Id have to fiberglass anways) id have the ports going to the back dash where my old stock sub used to be, and Id seal it off, so all the port was blowing into the back of the car. Id mount the 3rd interior amp on the back side of the box where I left the 8", along with the crossovers and the 2 batteries. Id angle the subs facing the back of the trunk up a little so they arent facing directly towards the back of the trunk.

What do you think?

my guess would be decent but 3-4 subs (i think even 2) move more air than you think

yea, thats good, I want it to move a lot of air. and the fact that it will be in like a 2 cu. ft box, it wont move quite as much air as it would in like 4 cubes though.

My 04 R types came today. Mounted one in my 2.5cu tuned at 45 and I am very impressed.

Smooth and loud.

Handles power very well.

Don't see how you can smoke an R with that little power... unless you had massive clipping.
I doubt you saw more than 300 actual watts to the woofer...

I send 1500 ACTUAL watts to mine daily... and yes, I beat on em DAILY... and no problems thus far?

Im sure its in this thread somewhere... but I said before the type R relies alot on its cooling system to keep it goin, if you clip it you screw that up.... remember its still just a 2" coil.

Use it right and its *the* loudest low note woofer I have ever tested...

I dunno either, I'm guessing it was a bad sub because I'm running a different sub now and I've had no problems like my Alpine, amps never screwed up (went into protect) nothing. The LA I got outdoes the Alpine alot. I was not dissapointed by the R at all.

I get little volt drops (not much though) I wanna guesstamate that the lowest is around 13 volts. So I was seeing more than 300. The THD rating on my amp is .03% so clipping may have been there may have not. Just shows me that the R can't handle the box that it was in/my system. I play low shit all the time with my MTX and the LA and no problems. My bud had the same problem with his R's 1.5cuft sealed 2 10's. They were smokin.

I may have expected too much from that sub. WAY too much. I'm happy where I'm at now.
