The Official Type R Thread

I preferred the W6v2...
Frequency response is going to be by far more box dependent than the driver...
some sub freq response is very limited regardless of the box they are in.

im looking for a very flat response in a .7 cu-ft sealed.

im pretty happy with the SWR 10, but wonder how much better the 10w6v2 would do in the same enclosure.

im going to put 2 type r's in my camaro , powered by a ED NINe.1 amp

should I go with 10" or 12" subwoofers ? will either sound different or better ?

the 2 12" will be a little louder, for the simple fact of increased cone area. even if its not louder b/c of your power limitations if you decide to upgrade the amp later. then you will be able to get louder then you would with the 10", that's assuming your box is designed to make optimal output from you subs.

The diameter is simply how big of a hole you need to cut...

The top mounting depth is how far the *** end of the driver sticks into the box, if the sub is mounting with the flange over the box (standard mounting config).

ALRIGHTY..............HERE IS THE SITUATION.....................

Ive been waiting on a pair of Eclipse TI 15's for a while now. I was going to seal them (lookin for more SQ). I really want them just because nobody really has them, and I love the way they sound. BUT.........I can get 4 12" type R's for like basically 450 bucks (each would see only 6-700 watts. IF I SEAL THEM will this sound louder than the 2 15's Running at 1500 watts each.????I know obviously the 4 12's have the cone area advantage, but

A; could I fit 4 type R's in 8-9 cu. ft.

B; Would they sound that good sealed.

If you have 9 cubes for 4 type-rs you may be able to port them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But you could just run 3 of them and port those no problem and be loud as hell. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Although, would the TI's be ported? Because if they are, that would be a killer setup too.

I would start off the TI's sealed, just because I like the way they sounded, but I would eventually have to port them just to see what they could do.

I have 2 amps, so I have to do 2, or 4. But you dont think they would sound good sealed (the R's?)
