The Official Type R Thread

im sure that the boxes were completely different sizes with different tunings, if you took your box, then listend to your R and took it out and put in an X, you wouldn't be saying your R is louderAlpine would not produce a subwoofer that is 3 times the price of the type R and it not be better....

it just wouldn't make sense
yes it would because it wasnt made for spl:eyebrow:

umm alot of guys that know spl know spkrman and what he did at the show (even though it wasnt big) was pretty impressive. basically in under a days time he flipped around his set up had nothing to test it with (his meter died) and busted a 150 without even knowing what his best frequency was. in another days time he could have made it prepared for either street b or c and im sure he could have done at least as good and probably better. basically he knows enough were he can get what he wants with little effort as opposed to alot of guys i know and if you want me to be honest for what you get even if he wanted to charge 400 per box per woofer it would be worth it. you might say "dang that is expensive" but from what other proven spl shops charge to get the same results and maybe worse costs alot more. does his box look as mean or weigh 360lbs? maybe or maybe not (depends on the vehicle) but the results are pretty unargueable. at most local comps his boxxes would net you a top 2 or 3 at least even if you live in hard hitter heaven.

You know what, there are just some people that can overpower the hell out of a sub. I'm one of them. My 187s each took 1200 watts apiece off my Orion 1200D (seperately) like it were pancakes or something, and they were ported. And playing music. That said, I'm not really impressed about someone bragging about a mid level sub taking 2.5x it's rated power. I've done 4x to entry level subs.

yes it does, it is complete opposite of what the paper says....

what would be the most amount of power you could get away with in a ported box for daily driving then:up2somet: said above 1000 plus but that seems a lil much but what do i know.....JACK SH@#//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There seem to be alot of people on these forums giving the new type r's that much power and saying they are doing great...
If you start to smell the glue melting them you should turn it down...

what glue? yes newbie alert all insults welcome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif id also know what glue would be melting the sub, i didnt know you could melt a sub with glue?

The glue that holds the woofer together. Too much power = too much heat = fried glue = parts coming apart = dead woofer.

I would bet money that if you played music on a Type R loud enough that it really was getting 2kw rms, that the sub wouldn't last 30 minutes.
