assuming the 2.4 calculation is including displacement
with a 32hz tuning your peak spl will be at 37.4 hz with a sensitivity increase of 3.13 db at 37.4 hz
you do have other options, im assuming you are tuning it at 32 so it will hit the low notes very well, the cutoff in that small of a box will be aroun 29.9 hz, but tuning so low can definetly take away from the subs output, unless you change the box
here is a way to get around that
right now you have about a 3 db sensitivity gain, and you sub will not like notes below about 28 hz
now to get the most output
lets say you change to a 3.5 cubic foot box, and move the tuning up to 34hz
your type r 12" will now hit just as low as the 2.4 32hz
and rather than having a 3 db gain at 37.4 hz
you will have a 5.4 db gain at 37 hz even
BOOST THE SENSITIVITY
so i just made the box bigger, tuned it up, and since its bigger will still hit the low notes exactly in the way your 32hz tuned box will, but with a little higher tuned
gave you a 2.4db gain over the other box
simplified--- if you increase the box size you can get away with a higher tune, not loose out on db's on your low notes, and at the same time, yield more SPL,
RED IS type R 1242d in 2.4 cubic feet with 32 hz tune
GREEN is type R 1242d in 3.5 cubic feet with a 34 hz tune
