The Official Type R Thread

I got the Kenwood KAC-9152D its 500@4ohms 900@2 or 1 ohms. Says its one ohm stable on the box and its CEA tested so it should do close to rated power. Under $200 on ebay brand new.

please do....dude there are more thna enuff threads on tha type R..but to answer your question, get the 15"s if you want SQL.......SPL go L7's from what ive heard on the kickers.....
yo geez, those TYPE R's have tight SPL to! i think 149 daily is pretty good. also i see 152.7 in your signature, you did that with the TYPE R's in your avatar, or what subs did you hit that with?

i saw SPKRMAN say ype s id louder than R! are you serious? is that true?
type S is louder than type R, type R is louder than SX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Type S isn't musically loud, the SX beats it on music. The type R beats the SX on music, especially.

The SX only has the advantage in a 100% fart box.

In an SPL configuration, the type S gets louder than the R wishes it could up to 1000 actual watts, past that the S doesnt handle the power. Doesnt exactly "handle" past 800 each - sound horrible but they stay together.

not for the normal person....he just knows what he is doing.
oh ok, i was like really the S louder than the R? looking at the Specs looks like the R would murder the S. I dont think the X is all its up to be. those things need tyo much power!

I'll take that as a compliment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But the truth is that every woofer has its application, the S WILL number better than the R because its so much more effeciant.

In a typical application the S will be louder than the type R, but it won't handle the power and it won't have as much of a low end. The type S only effeciantly tunes low in *one* box.

Don't underestimate the S! Which btw, actually has a dual spider, part of the reason it stays together under so much stress. Thats not to say I never ripped one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The type X is an extremely ineffeciant woofer... but the sound quality is just amazing.

A type R will spank a type X as far as being loud, both on the meter and on music.

The type X only has the advantage in a sealed box with *alot* of power, mostly because the type R just doesn't do it in a sealed box while the type X doesn't mind a sealed box.
