The Official Type R Thread

If you've got enough power for both 12's.. They should blow that SX away.. I think the SX is 1000W RMS, not sure if thats under-rated or not (it prob handles more) and we all know what the Type R's will take.. + more cone area

Wow. Still in the plastic and everything! So do you have everything ready for them? Box/Amp? If so what are you running sealed/ported and what kinda amp ^^
no:crap: thats why they are still in the plastic....i still need to build my box and get a deck.......i will be running 2 alpine mrd m501's in a 4ft^3 box tuned to 36Hz.

Haha, well that sounds good man.. what are the specs on those amps? I can't find anything on them.. Oh btw, don't feel bad.. I'm in the process of buying a new deck and shit too.. My pioneer started clipping BAD the other day =x

completely different woofer than '04....definitely a wayyyyy better sub this year...and the surround is different on the '05's...not sure why but it does make it look a hell of a lot better...so does the a$$ end of it to.
Yeah, but I was referring to what specs they changed to get the output they did.

I guess maybe the 05 Type R was a project in itself, let alone the Type X rolling out.

Now, if the Type R (2005) was tested to be a tad better than the SX, then is the Type X comparable to the XXX?

Now that it seems I am on the right track with these products.... Anyone have a good ported box design for the new '05 Type-R's?? I have almost 6 cuft to work with... to be exact....

Available space

45W x 29D x 10H

I would idealy like to have the box with the bottom and top the larger area 45x29, and 10"High, subs facing forward with ports at the rear on the top...

Anyone have a design something like this? Or port/box size measurements?

Thanks!

PS - This forum rocks!

i was testing a type R 10 using only 50watts RMS, and it shoook the whole house, would have worked as one of the best home theater subs i've heard in a whilebut its in my friends SUV with 600w RMS V12 on it and now its straiight hittin
Is your friends type-r sealed or ported? What size is his box?

yep jus look at it..........

I noticed that. But the main thing I'm trying to figure out if the surround. Are there any videos of these things in action so I can see it? I'm just curious to see what it looks like in movement.

I always wondered. Sure they put up a good number in an SPL box, burped at a high frequency, and feed more than double the RMS rating.

But how would they compare to say a RE SE, Kicker L7, Fosgate P3 in a basic ported box with the actuall RMS and playing music.

I think all this hype is overlooked as a basic SPL score in an SPL box with ungodly amounts of power. Do we have any street beater opinions? How do they compare?

Yeah, I wonder that too. I know Tommy said in his testing thread against the SeXXX and SX that the two RE subs couldn't even handle the power that the Type R did while smiling.

Regardless, for the price, you can get a pair of R's for the price of an SX give or take a few bucks... so to me, it's a bargain. Even at the R's RMS power, which individually the output might be a bit less than the SE or SX, but again, with the price of the R's you could easily get a pair... so it evens out to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
