that amp doesnt put out 1500, the directed 2400 only puts out 1200wrms....

For what it's worth, I'm going from 600 RMS/RE SE 15 to 1,100 RMS/Two Type R 12s.

I ordered the subs last week, they will be shipped out tomorrow, I'll have them later this week.

Despite the fact I only have the Type R's rated RMS power to give them, I was thinking on making the box a little bigger than called for by Alpine to compensate.

My SE is pretty darn loud, I mean it sounds good for the 2.2cf sealed box I've got it in. But hell, if a single Type R 12 can eat up all of that power and still beat an SX (step up from what I've already got... SE), then I'm jumping on that. I haven't heard the newer Type S's, so I can't comment on whether or not they'd be comparable to the SE's or not. I would ASSUME... Keyword: ASSUME... that the RE SE's would have the upper hand on the Type S's, however, as some tests have shown here, the Type R has the upper hand over not only the SE, but the SX.

Well where are you ordering your type r's from? I think Im gonna order mine from ikesound.com for $105 a piece. Thats the cheapest i have found them so far.

Yeah I'll be getting Type R's this Thursday aswell. How much are they on sale for @ your dealer.. and is there a RE dealer around you? I've also thought about ordering mine from ikesound.com. ive heard both 12s under optimal sealed box size and 600 watts RMS a piece, the SE is a little ouder than the R sealed.

other way around for ported

yes if you run at 2ohm but it wont be loud.....

The local dealer (Indep. audio) is selling them for 155 a piece (tax included). Thats with Alpine authorized warranty too. Very nice guys, they favor MTX though. Where are you in Missouri? Did you happen to swing by the 2 day Comp In July (I think) With YingYang twins? It wasnt so great lol.
